Preventative Security Model™.

The IGEL Preventative Security Model™ (PSM) removes endpoint vulnerabilities commonly exploited by attackers. Instead of relying on the traditional “monitor, detect, fix” approach—which requires multiple security and administrative agents—IGEL PSM minimises the attack surface, eliminating the need for costly and complex security tools. As a secure Linux-based operating system, IGEL OS delivers everything needed for a seamless cloud-first user experience.

PSM achieves this through:

  • Read-only operating system. Users cannot unknowingly (or knowingly) download or install malware on the endpoint.
  • No local data storage. No customer, patient, financial, or other sensitive data can be downloaded to the endpoint saved to connected USB devices. This ensures that lost or stolen devices do not result in security breaches and prevents malicious insiders from stealing data undetected.
  • Trusted Application Platform. A secure boot process ensures that no code is compromised. A simple reboot restores the device to a known secure state, allowing businesses to recover services within minutes after a cyberattack—rather than weeks or months.
  • Authentication, SSO integration, SASE. IGEL partners with leading authentication providers, including Microsoft, Imprivata, Okta, Ping Identity, Omnissa and Citrix. By collaborating with SASE and Service Edge partners, IGEL simplifies zero-trust deployments.

Igel sustainability

IGEL and sustainability.

IGEL is committed to creating a better world—delivering real value for people, organisations, and the planet. IGEL OS helps businesses reduce their environmental footprint while supporting global sustainability efforts.

With IGEL, companies can meet their sustainability goals by extending the lifespan of existing hardware, cutting emissions and lowering costs.

End-user computing accounts for 1% of global greenhouse gas emissions. A more sustainable approach includes keeping devices in use longer, reusing rather than replacing them, and adopting energy-efficient thin clients like IGEL OS. These measures significantly reduce Scope 3 emissions. For example, a British financial service provider now saves more than 256,000 kg Co2e with IGEL OS—the same as 1.5 million fewer kilometres driven or 307 hectares of forest.
