Third time’s the charm, as the saying goes. At Bechtle, it came in the form of our third edition of our Software Day, held on 12 February 2020 at Bechtle headquarters. This time, however, major changes were implemented, making the event an even greater success than in previous years ...

First, the formerly two-day event was distilled into a single day. Second, the target audience was expanded to include not only Bechtle sales representatives, but also end customers. The concentrated content and expanded guest list were warmly welcomed by the 20 participating vendors and more than 100 visitors. As in previous years, engaging sideline events featuring popular keynote speaker Frank Astor (known for his talk “Future Now - Zukunft ist Jetzt”) and digital magician Christoph Wilke were offered.
The 2025 Digital Strategy published by Bitkom, the industry association representing Germany’s digital economy, in January 2020 made two things very clear. First, there is still much to be done to bring Germany’s digital economy up to speed so that it can compete with US companies. Second, software is a fundamental component of any digital strategy. Fortunately, Bechtle excels in this very area, offering its customers two core elements necessary for serious digital projects, namely excellent relationships with strategic software vendors and a wide range of hardware, software and services to support such endeavours. Particularly noteworthy are Bechtle’s business architects, systems integrators, technicians and teams such as Bechtle Clouds, which are able to supply everything needed. While diverse, these various actors all represent a united Bechtle front.
Because the event was whittled down to one day and the participating vendors were in high demand, topics were limited. Twenty-one sessions, held three at a time, offered visitors a wealth of ideas on digitalisation and optimisation. An extensive exhibition space was also provided—and well visited during breaks—to give the more than 100 Bechtle and guest visitors additional opportunities to discuss their thoughts and obtain information. This resulted in a number of contacts and projects being generated.
In addition to purely technical questions and the challenge of just-right licensing, digitalisation also poses the dilemma of how best to deploy the technology. Is it better to go with an on-premise installation or a private, public or hybrid cloud? What about a subscription model versus billing based on usage? Everything is becoming more complex and, in some cases, increasingly granular. It’s easy for customers to feel overwhelmed at times. That’s why Bechtle offers a wide range of top-qualified specialists to help prospective and long-term customers choose the best solutions. Their expertise is especially valued by vendors, who represented the following core topics during the Software Day event:
The annual Bechtle Software Day has found a successful formula by inviting both end customers and its own sales representatives. Several additional vendors and in-house Bechtle teams have expressed interest in participating in the 2021 event. Detailed talks will therefore be held in the second half of 2020 to begin putting together next year's instalment, featuring an even broader, more engaging programme. One thing is clear: software is taking on a bigger role as the pressure to digitalise grows. In light of this, customers increasingly appreciate and see the value of “One Bechtle”, which offers hardware, software and services from a single, expert and forward-facing partner.
