VMware Skyline is a proactive support technology developed by VMware. Skyline automatically collects, aggregates and analyses customer-specific product usage data in order to proactively detect potential issues, thus enabling a faster resolution.
VMware Skyline Collector is a self-contained virtual appliance that automatically collects product usage data including on configuration, function and performance. Collector also verifies changes and results which are transmitted to VMware in near real-time.
The analyses are based on fixed rule sets and supported by a machine learning engine. The engine is made up of an ever-growing library of support information, product knowledge and logic to analyse incoming product data streams.
VMware use the data collected by Skyline to proactively detect potential problems, carry out research analyses based on service requests and thus improve VMware environments’ overall stability and reliability.
