World Vision is a Christian child welfare organisation focussing on development assistance, humanitarian help and developmental advocacy. The organisation supports children, families and their communities in the fight against poverty and injustice. As Christians of various confessions, World Vision’s employees help people in need worldwide, regardless of ethnic background, religion or nationality. World Vision Germany is part of the global World Vision network that is active in nearly 100 countries.
As part of their move to a new admin building in 2012, World Vision decided to strategically outsource their data centre operations to Bechtle. The Bechtle Managed Cloud Service platform was employed to deliver World Vision a flexible, scalable and secure IT infrastructure platform that excels in its cost efficiency.
In 2017, the existing partnership between World Vision and Bechtle was extended. The operation and service concept they had been using up until then underwent a complete, technical overhaul and adapted to World Vision’s needs.
Full service outsourcing was decided upon, including a hybrid cloud service concept from Bechtle. Within this, Microsoft Public Cloud Services were combined with a new, standardised Bechtle Virtual Private Cloud to perfectly meet World Vision’s requirements. The Bechtle Virtual Private Cloud is available in three tiers (Bronze, Silver and Gold) and is hosted in the Bechtle data centre in Frankfurt am Main. The modern data centre fulfils the tier 3+ standard and offers ISO 27001 certified operation in addition to DE-CIX connection to the central hub in Frankfurt. All services are performed in Germany ensuring that data is not transmitted outside of the country. Our solution leverages advanced, premium name-brand components, and all services are fully automated. Via portal access, World Vision can also access whatever resources they need at any time and adjust them to their needs.
In performing the services, Bechtle handles all management of the cloud platform. In addition to providing the infrastructure and performing basic services, we also ensure general security measures and handle application support. With Bechtle’s cloud concept, World Vision’s request for a custom service and operation concept with high requirements on availability and service has been met. World Vision also uses Bechtle’s service desk, whose skilled experts provide support services whenever required.
Bechtle is also responsible for World Vision’s client management for the duration of the contract, not just in Germany but also in the non-governmental organisation’s European branches. To do this, Bechtle relies on a preconfigured and pre-installed set of software components which facilitate easy and affordable client management. Service delivery includes automatic and central installation of the operating system, software packeting and distribution, patch management and anti-virus protection.
