YAVEON AG implements business software and advises companies from the chemicals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and food industries. It support companies as they introduce ERP systems, validate computer systems, optimise business processes and pursue document and information management as well as business intelligence. YAVEON’s 180 employees are distributed across nine sites in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. As a result of its strong growth trajectory and increasing data volumes, the company needed a new storage and backup strategy.
To keep data safe, YAVEON’s entire infrastructure would have to be redesigned strategically and IT service quality increased. The goal was to boost the storage solution’s overall efficiency, improve the backup and restore system and increase data availability. The new solution would also have to be able to integrate innovative features more quickly and simplify management of the IT landscape. This would leave the IT department with fewer routine tasks to worry about and IT services could be deployed faster from a central location.
We were impressed with Bechtle’s design, which provided a future-proof solution for our entire backup and storage. All of our requirements were fully met, thanks to Bechtle’s knowledgeable advice, and extensive storage and backup expertise—as well as our close collaboration.

YAVEON decided to implement a future-proof Dell EMC solution that could be expanded as needed. Bechtle installed a Dell EMC VNX 5200 Unified Storage system and a Data Domain DD2500 data backup system with 36 TB of raw storage capacity. The Dell EMC VNX 5200 features a new, powerful Intel Xeon E5-2600 processor (Sandy Bridge) and modular architecture with integrated hardware components for block, file and object storage as well as support for native NAS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel and FCoE protocols. The system uses the patented MCx™ multi-core storage software operating environment for top performance efficiency. The Dell EMC Data Domain backup appliance features extremely fast inline deduplication, which consolidates data within a system, thereby slashing the required backup storage capacity by a factor of up to 30. Patented Data Invulnerability Architecture by Data Domain continually protects the integrity of backed up data, ensuring that it can be restored when needed. In the final step of the project, Bechtle trained YAVEON’s IT staff on how to administrate the new storage system. Bechtle also offers Dell EMC premium software support.
By restructuring its storage and backup system, YAVEON is now able not only to better safeguard its data but also to obtain storage capacity more quickly. The new storage system optimises performance, stabilises operation and ensures high system availability, freeing up IT staff to focus on other tasks. The updated hardware, which has cut costs significantly, is widely accepted by both the IT department and senior company management.
