Deployment of content, cloud services and applications, closer to where thy are needed.
Regional data centres are closer to the user and the data source i.e. where data is created and used and are smaller than the large centralised data centres. These data centres exist to bring latency or bandwidth sensitive applications closer to the point-of-use. They are strategically located to address high volume needs and can be thought of as the “bridge” between central and on-premise localised data centres. Regional data centres are typically de-signed with security and availability in mind and it is not uncommon to see Tier 3 designs in facilities like this. Sometimes pre-fabricated design approaches are deployed.
