Panasonic’s TOUGHBOOK 55 is setting the benchmark for flexibility and mobile working. The modular design allows users to customise their devices according to their needs and, for the first time ever, even while during use.
The rugged 14" Panasonic TOUGHBOOK 55 Notebook gives its users maximum flexibility thanks to individual configurability and module expansion slots. If needed, the devices’ range of features can be extended quickly and conveniently on the go by plugging special additional devices into a module slot and activating them. This means that graphics performance can be significantly upgraded or a smartcard reader, additional storage or DVD/Blu-Ray drive added. The second slot can be used to connect up a fingerprint scanner, RFID, standard smartcard reader or even a second battery.
Businesses can equip their devices with three additional ports: VGA, True Serial and either a fourth USB, a second Gigabit-LAN, or a Rugged USB 2.0 port.
The new TOUGHBOOK 55 is even more flexible, robust, secure and durable than its predecessor, the popular TOUGHBOOK 54. When it comes to sustainability and investment security for existing customers, Panasonic has taken care to ensure compatibility with its predecessor’s accessories during development, so previous generation vehicle docks and desktop port replicators can continue to be used with the TOUGHBOOK 55.
The TOUGHBOOK 55 combines semi-ruggedised toughness with the look and feel of a business notebook: Weighing in at only 2.08 kg and measuring 32.8 mm, the ergonomic handle makes sure you always have it in your grasp. Even more resistant than its predecessor, it provides an increased level of protection against dust and water splashes according to the Ingress Protection Standard (IP-53) and can withstand falls from heights of up to 91 cm (MIL-STD810H). In addition, usability in extreme temperatures has been improved so that operating temperatures have been extended to between -20°C and +60°C.
An extended battery life of up to 20 hours without the need for external power, upgradable to 40 hours (with an optional hot-swap second battery) makes the TOUGHBOOK 55 as durable as it is flexible.
The tough semi-ruggedised design protects the TOUGHBOOK 55 against physical damage and to protect data, simply take the data storage out.
Above all that, the device scores highly with its completely new security level that protects the system against malicious attacks. The TOUGHBOOK 55 is one of the first notebooks to feature a new advanced security platform, making it a modern Windows 10 Pro device with ready-to-use hardware, software and identity protection.
The 8th Generation Intel Core i5 vPro processor, highly developed Panasonic components and Windows 10 Pro features guarantee the highest levels of protection against firmware, BIOS phase and device attacks. What’s more, data access can be secured even in standby mode.
