While some were still mumbling a “dunno” or “still thinking about it”, I would confidently say I’m going to be a student learner at Bechtle. I just knew that university or a year off to kick back weren’t for me, so I was already writing application letters with a full year of school still to go. And once I landed a vocational training position at Bechtle, I couldn’t wait for my first day on the job to come. Then came August, and on Monday morning I set out to Bechtle’s Bremen office. I met my fellow trainees before we even set a foot inside.

Once we did, we got a great reception from our new colleagues who made us feel right at home. On the first two days we went on a discovery tour of the Bechtle sites in Bremen and Oldenburg. On day three we met the older trainees who shared with us what their time at Bechtle has been like so far, and what we could be looking forward to. In the afternoon, we got to see the Bechtle box in Bremen’s Weserstadion.

On Thursday, the actual work began. We met up with our new mentors, and discovered our first department. I started in Internal Sales, and with two essential courses on Microsoft NAV under my belt I got to submit my first supervised transactions. But before we sell, customers want to see a quote, so on the next day my mentor took me a step back in the process and taught me how to make one in NAV. Bechtle takes a very learning-by-doing approach, but they’ll never just throw you in the deep end. There’s always someone there to help. After Internal Sales, I switched to the Oldenburg office and went on to explore our Public Sector business, which is what I’ve been doing since October 2021. I manage customer requests, translate needs into quotes, and create sales orders.

My Bechtle highlights so far? That would be the Bechtle box in the Weserstadion, the Mikado orientation programme, and the AZUBIT workshop in Neckarsulm.

I really hope that my training will take me to the Neckarsulm HQ more often to meet and share experiences with trainees at other Bechtle units. Six months into my time at Bechtle I am happy to say that I absolutely made the right choice, and I’m looking forward to the future, to the challenges I will overcome, and to sharing them with you here.

All the best,

Jasmina
