Following a successful audit in July, on Thursday, Bechtle AG received the Dualis certificate for being an “outstanding training company” from Dietmar Niedziella, Member of the Board and Head of Vocational Training at the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in the Heilbronn-Franken region. For Bechtle’s chief executive, Dr Thomas Olemotz, who accepted the award, the certificate is “more than just the icing on the cake. It’s a mark of quality for us and the economic region as a whole.”
Auditors from the IHK Heilbronn-Franken and companies that have already received the award, checked Bechtle’s training against their 46-page catalogue of criteria and its five separate training phases: Acquisition, induction, implementation, review and retention.
Bechtle passed the test with flying colours and received much praise, for successful fair appearances, the bechtle-azubit.de website, a strong social media presence, dynamic induction events for trainees, an open feedback culture, the large number of trainees, their mission planning, their wide range of seminars for trainees, exam support and preparation, in addition to planning of retention and the retention rate.
In light of the feedback, which was positive in virtually every respect, Dr Thomas Olemotz put strong emphasis on thanking all those involved with training at Bechtle: “This is your award,” said the CEO of Bechtle AG, adding: “We’ve progressed enormously in the past few years in HR as a whole, but specifically with regard to vocational training. This process has been supported by you all—the mentors, trainee supervisors, HR, and our Managing Directors.”
It’s my firm belief that as a company, we can only be successful in the long run if we invest in our trainees, and therefore our future.

He also underlined the importance that Bechtle training and trainees have to him personally: “Just recently, in a trainee event, I was asked why I’d taken the time to attend such an event. My reply was that it’s vital that either I or one of my colleagues from the Executive Board be there to answer their questions. It’s my firm belief that as a company, we can only be successful in the long run if we invest in our trainees, and therefore our future.”
In three years, Bechtle will be audited by the IHK Heilbronn-Franken once again. The Dualis training certificate isn’t awarded for an indefinite period—like any other certified company, Bechtle will have to pass another test. This will also be about whether Bechtle was able to unlock the potential identified by the IHK for standardisation across the group and communicating learning objectives.
Michaela Roth, Bechtle AG Central Training Management, who works intensively on training, said: “We’re making lots of little adjustments to drive our processes even further.” This is the only way that Bechtle can fulfil Dr Thomas Olemotz’s closing statement: “We want to become even better.”
