In 2015, Bechtle acquired Modus Consult AG—a leading specialist in ERP application solutions. Bechtle Softwarelösungen has been part of the Bechtle Group since 1999, and as the two companies complemented each other almost perfectly in terms of organisational structure, portfolio and locations, the next logical step was to merge the two—a process successfully completed in March.
Both companies will operate jointly on the market under the name Modus Consult from now on. 270 employees serve more than 1,000 customers from five different industries at the headquarters in Gütersloh and at the locations in Bonn, Bremen, Erlangen, Neckarsulm, Stuttgart and Villingen-Schwenningen. By 2025, 500 employees will be tasked with making the joint vision of the future a reality—to reach a turnover of 100 million euros. The company is aiming to be the number one partner for Microsoft in Germany, particularly in the area of ERP. “We are experts in all things technical. That means: We can provide strategic support to our customers on topics such as digitalisation or transformation,“ says Klaus Wagner, CEO of Modus Consult AG The experts in Gütersloh are best known for their business management software solutions in the areas of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM), based on Microsoft Dynamics, document management systems (ECM), collaboration solutions and business intelligence (BI).
What can customers expect from Modus Consult? An individual solution to every problem, no matter whether it is a matter of introducing a complete ERP system, checking company key figures or uniformly managing documents. Modus Consult's customers manufacture beds, yoghurts and specialist machinery and, since 1995, the Microsoft partner has been adapting its software to the food, furniture and plastics industries, helping with solutions in mechanical and plant engineering as well as in the construction industry. The specialists first analyse the customer's requirements, advise those responsible and plan the project. The range of services also includes delivery, implementation and customer-specific adaptation of the solution including installation, maintenance, training and service. “For us, the merger with Modus Consult is a unique opportunity to take our time-tested business to the next level and further extend our service offering for our customers. This merger opens up a lot of doors and there are enormous opportunities for customers, employees and manufacturing partners alike“, explains Oliver Reinsdorf, who, as former managing director of Bechtle Softwarelösungen, is now active in the management of Modus Consult.

When you are constantly discussing within teams, you not only pass on your know-how, but also generate new ideas. "We have set up innovation teams that are paving the way for the future, and we are at the top of our game when it comes to bringing together the know-how of experts and pulling in the same direction to develop new products and business models" explains Birgit Merschmann, Operations Director at Modus Consult. The company is currently working on expanding into strategic project management. "This is something new for Modus Consult and is all about change." For CEO Klaus Wagner, digitalisation and the Internet of Things are among the major challenges. "This is also reflected in our target markets. We are active in many industries and are therefore very aware of the developing trends. In addition to the well-known topics of IT security, cloud, big data and mobile computing, it's artificial intelligence and augmented reality solutions that will really take hold in many areas of industry. For example, being able to visualise furniture and buildings will enable even better planning in the future."
