Alfred Ritter GmbH & Co. KG is famous for its signature square chocolate bars wrapped in brightly coloured packaging and sold under the brand name Ritter Sport. Roughly 2.5 million of these melt-in-your-mouth temptations are shipped out daily from the company’s factory in Waldenbuch, Germany, which employs some 1,000 people. Promising “Quality. Chocolate. Squared.” on its packaging, the chocolatey treat is one of Germany’s most beloved brands.
Alfred Ritter GmbH & Co. KG’s 400 PC workstations had been using Windows XP for over ten years, with administration relying on Office 2003. However, with Microsoft announcing they were to cease support for this software, an upgrade was inevitable. The company decided to upgrade all workstations to Windows 7 and Office 2013.
After transitioning from Office 2003 to Office 2013, Alfred Ritter wanted its employees to be trained on the substantially different application interface and new Windows 7 operating system.
In addition to imparting knowledge, increasing user acceptance and boosting work efficiency, this training was also aimed at reducing the number of calls to the help desk by frustrated users.
Alfred Ritter GmbH & Co. KG: Founded in 1912, the medium-sized family business from Waldenbuch, Germany, with around 1,200 employees worldwide, is in its third generation and managed by Alfred T. Ritter. In 1932, Clara Ritter invented the characteristic square chocolate mould. Around 2.5 million of the colourfully packaged bars leave the plant every day, where they have been produced without the use of nuclear power since 2002. For over 100 years, the Ritter family name has stood for the high quality of their products.
Following the presentation of tried-and-tested-training modules, Bechtle put together a company-specific training concept geared to the needs of Alfred Ritter using customer-approved trainers. To manage participants, Bechtle developed a custom, SharePoint-based management portal.
