Bechtle now in Dortmund too.

With the opening of a new centre in Dortmund, the largest city in the Ruhr area now also joins the dense network of IT system houses belonging to Bechtle. The new site for the company offers ample room for the growth that the service provider is striving for.

Neckarsulm/Dortmund, 15 February 2010 — Now, with its Dortmund site, the IT services provider and retailer Bechtle has 13 out of its total of over 50 system houses located in Germany's most industrially developed region, North Rhine Westphalia. The new office space in the Technology Park in Dortmund offers excellent working conditions in an easily accessible site covering 1000 square metres. "In Dortmund we can rely on the expertise and experience of an established workforce," says Frank Wrede, Managing Director of Bechtle IT system houses in Dortmund and Meschede. The 30 staff from the Bechtle centre in Essen will begin work in Dortmund immediately. Bechtle will continue to be represented in Essen by its long-established subsidiary ITZ Informationstechnologie GmbH.

Modern and technology-focused.

In its smart new premises, the system house benefits from an excellent infrastructure that meets all the technical and functional requirements of a modern IT centre. "The spacious layout makes for an open, transparent and pleasant working environment. The new site also gives us plenty of room for the growth we are striving for," says Frank Wrede. The offices, on two floors, will accommodate 60 staff. The managing director explains that: "In Dortmund we have restructured our basic set-up, so as to be able to handle even very large-scale roll-out projects more effectively in the future. We are also introducing a demo centre, where we will be able to show our customers the latest storage and virtualisation products live."

Proximity to the customer.

Bechtle did have customers in Dortmund and the surrounding area even before this move. Now that the IT service provider has its own company in this Westphalian urban centre, it will have a more tangible presence for its customers. Frank Wrede says: "With our combination of a regional pres-ence and proximity to the customer, and while benefiting from the support and resources provided by the central facilities and solutions specialists at Bechtle AG, we offer our customers real added value." The customers of the system house are mainly medium-sized companies and public bodies, but also include some large corporations. "Of course, we are hoping that in the future we will be able to attract one or two companies from the immediate vicinity to Bechtle", says Frank Wrede. Altogether, there are about 265 high-tech companies and service providers in the Technology Park, with over 8400 employees.

The move by Bechtle chimes well with an initiative launched by the city, which wants to concentrate on attracting innovative sunrise industries, thereby further strengthening Dortmund's leading position as a centre for information tech-nology, microtechnology and e-logistics.
