The benefits of Device as a Service for SMEs, VSEs and SMIs

For many small and medium-sized businesses, acquiring computers, dealing with daily breakdowns or the “normal” renewal of devices and management of the entire IT estate can often be expensive and time-consuming.
Especially if these companies do not have a very well-developed IT department. To meet these everyday challenges, more and more SMEs, VSEs and SMIs are moving to Device as a Service (DAAS) as a new, more intuitive way to manage their IT assets.

What are the benefits of DAAS for SMEs, VSEs and SMIs? Find out in this article!

Benefit number 1: the right computer for the right employee, all the time

The main benefit of DAAS is that it allows employees to work on a computer, PC or MacBook that corresponds to their business profile. For example, a mobile worker will need a powerful but easy-to-carry computer with a good battery. On the other hand, an office/teleworker will need a more traditional device and a second screen. This is also true for accessories, which differ enormously from one profile to another!

Giving your staff a computer that matches their needs has many benefits: increased daily productivity and—something we tend to forget, increased employee satisfaction!

Another strategic point is the downtime of these computers. As teams work on computers every day, they age, slow down, and become obsolete. All of these problems inherent in using a computer cause downtime, which in turn causes employees to lose time and productivity. For these reasons, Device as a Service offers the option to renew computers before they crash.

Choosing a DAAS offer means choosing to provide your company’s talent with top-of-the-range, current, and fully functional laptops or desktop computers.

Benefit number 2: A fixed subscription with no hidden costs.

Equipping several employees and renewing PCs or MacBooks several times (every three to four years) entails significant costs if they are direct purchases. In addition, there are hidden costs associated with computer downtime. The budget of an SME, VSE or SMI is therefore strongly impacted, and this prevents strategic growth investments.

Switching from CAPEX to OPEX mode, i.e. leasing, allows companies to gain investment capacity and not overly impact funds. In addition, the subscription mode favoured in DAAS offers more flexibility and transparency thanks to predictable invoices.

Advantage number 3: simplified management of IT equipment.

As the name implies, Device as a Service is very much a service. In the event of a computer crashing, a number of services are deployed—incident resolution, computer replacement, etc. This ensures that throughout the life of the computer, it is supported by services that allow employees to work efficiently and without downtime.

Another benefit—thanks to DAAS, successful onboarding is not limited to large companies.  The computer arrives, turnkey and ready to use. This is a real asset for companies that are growing rapidly from a human point of view and that wish to prepare their onboardings as well as possible.

Benefit number 4: more free time for IT

Last but not least, choosing DAAS means choosing to relieve an already overburdened IT team. Whether you are in an SME or a multinational, there is a clear need to equip your employees as well as possible. But the crucial difference is that SMEs, VSEs and SMIs generally have a small IT team already working to capacity. Device as a Service solutions provide real relief for these teams. And this is true throughout the life cycle of the equipment, from mastering to taking back the equipment at the end of its life.
