Are you ready for mobile working?

Give your employees the flexibility they need

Desktops are disappearing from offices and end users want to determine where they work outside of the workplace. Mobile working is a hot topic, as a growing number of employees work from home, on the road or at the customer site. The notebook is the foundation of the working day and needs to be able to do more than ever before. Employees want to present their results, fully exploit applications and work securely. How do you ensure your employees’ flexibility without affecting the quality of their work?

We have three tips to help you support your employees on the road to mobile working.

Flexible notebook use

For example, an employee wants to be able to go to a customer's site to give a presentation. However, not all companies have a monitor on hand at all times and others use applications that are specifically for use with a tablet meaning that a notebook has to be a flexible tool. The best scenario would be for your users to have a device that switches between Laptop, Tablet, Tent and Stand modes so that if an employee wants to do a quick sketch, the touch screen provides the solution. All-in-one models give your employees the possibility to work at any time from any place.

Protect your employees from visual hackers in public areas

Your employees work in public areas with confidential or business-critical information which they, of course, want to protect from the prying eyes of passers-by. The risk of a data leak in these areas is huge and therefore, so is the threat of fines reaching into the millions. Privacy filters can be the solution, but don’t always work as well as they should, making notebooks less user-friendly. They also can’t be switched on and off as required which is why it’s recommended to find a notebook that offers a flexible solution such as those that give the user a 45° viewing angle, but which can be switched off.

Keep notebook sustainability in mind

As employees are more likely to be taking their notebooks out and about with them these days, it’s a good idea to ensure they are robust. A notebook can be accidentally dropped or be sprayed with water and dust, especially when being used on a building site, affecting notebook performance Having to replace your entire notebook pool after only one year because half don’t work anymore is not ideal, so keep your eyes open for a solution that has been comprehensively checked for sustainability.
