Small and midsized businesses invest a lot of time and money in managing their software. Microsoft Open licences, available through our Bechtle online shop, offer a more efficient solution by letting you download affordable, easy-to-manage software under a single contract.

Ideal for small and midsized companies

Managing software licences can be time-intensive and costly. Smaller businesses in particular often feel the pinch when they end up needing more licences than originally anticipated. Microsoft understands this dilemma and offers a compelling solution—Microsoft Open licenses—designed with small and midsized companies in mind. You’ll find this programme in our Bechtle online shop, as well as the Open Value licensing programme, which offers extended agreement periods. Five licences—for any combination of products—is all it takes to get started with Microsoft Open licensing. Product families available through the Open programme include Academic CRM, Academic Server, applications, operating systems, development tools and Microsoft Open Server.

How does Microsoft Open licensing work?

Once you’ve registered, you can purchase Microsoft licences simply by logging in to your customer portal and putting together your order as needed. As an alternative to purchasing licences alone, the Microsoft Open programme also allows you to acquire licences with Software Assurance. Software Assurance provides additional benefits such as automatic upgrades, enhanced access for software use on mobile devices and workshops for IT staff. Regardless of which solution you choose, you’ll be able to manage all of our licences efficiently and transparently in the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC).

How are licences delivered?

Acquired licences are available right away—simply download them directly. By doing so, you’ll also be supporting the shift to green IT. Microsoft Open agreements are valid for two years, and a two-tier pricing model provides substantial discounts to large-volume customers purchasing 250 licences or more. As a general rule, payment for Microsoft Open licences is always required up front. Our professional product managers will be happy to answer any questions you may have about Microsoft Open licensing. In addition, Microsoft itself offers a vast document library for you to consult.
