Powerful business notebooks.

When you’re in the market for enterprise notebooks, there are a few factors to take into consideration. Weight is one, but performance is critical. There’s a range of office and industrial-grade notebooks with a variety of RAM and SSD capacities to support an array of different requirements. For your typical office apps, 8 GB of RAM is plenty, but if your business is running complex applications for design and video editing, we recommend at least 16 GB RAM. Business notebooks usually come with 256 GB SSDs and this capacity is perfectly sufficient when it comes to everyday office activities. Graphic design and architecture files, however, are usually quite big, so it’s worth investing in a notebook with a 512 GB or even a 1 TB SSD for long-term security. Then there are the processors and graphics cards to consider. You need to keep an eye out for models with discrete graphics cards rather than iGPUs (integrated graphics processing unit) to ensure your employees benefit from the highest performance. Depending on the tasks your staff have, however, there are customisation options. Engineers, developers, but also research and science teams benefit greatly from industrial notebooks with powerful processors. A long battery life guarantees location-agnostic security and efficient performance, which is ideal for everyone working in the field.

Speedy computing with effective processors.

Processors are at the heart of each business notebook. They run all the commands and power every operation. Processor performance differs. The more cores it has, the faster and more resilient it is. The leading CPU manufacturers, Intel and AMD, offer tough processors for office notebooks. Do you need nots of power to run graphic and game design or architecture applications? Or maybe you are looking for a developer notebook to enable your team to easily write and compile hardware and software code? Then you need a processor that can lift some heavy weights. Both Intel and AMD offer processor families that have been engineered for precisely these needs. When you buy your business notebook, make sure that it has at least Intel i7, or better yet, i9 CPUs, or AMD Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9. If, however, your employees need devices primarily to process text, research information online, engage with customers, or run typical marketing or property management applications, an entry-level model is likely all you need. In this case, processors with fewer cores, but at least five, are recommended as good investments for the future. The other factor to consider before buying is clock rate, which indicates how quickly the CPU performs calculations and executes commands. As a general rule, the higher the rate, the faster the notebook works. However, modern processors also leverage technologies such as pipelining (executing processes similar to an industrial assembly line) and multi-threading (when several processes run in parallel), which means that better overall performance can be achieved even at a lower frequency.

Top picture quality with high-resolution displays.

In many businesses, the use of notebooks is unavoidable, and in many cases even the option of choice, but you need to make sure the screen is up to scratch. Ensuring the best picture quality is crucial as the light from screens can, over time, strain the eyes. To ensure your employees’ wellbeing while at work, you need to make sure the screen is of a high quality and you can select models with varying display sizes, surfaces, resolutions and maximum brightness depending on personal need. For people with everyday office tasks, smaller screens between 13" (approx. 33 cm) and 15" (approx. 38 cm) are plenty. 13" is the best choice for those employees who travel a lot for business while 15" offers the perfect balance between portability and screen real estate and is therefore a good option for most members of staff. If the business notebook is going to be primarily used in one place, 17" (approx. 43 cm) is recommended. There is no real upper limit for business devices for jobs that require highly detailed graphics, so that will come down to the employees’ personal choice. Similar is true of resolution. Image and video editing jobs benefit most from 4K or even 8K, but this isn’t necessarily the case in retail. Additional features like an anti-glare surface, touchscreen and built-in bluelight filter are also options to consider to protect the eyes. By optimising picture quality, the strain on your eyes can be kept to a minimum. If you work in the industrial sector, when it comes to choosing a notebook you should also think about ruggedised, splashproof devices with toughened screens.

Graphics cards can also be essential, particularly in graphic design, video editing and other creative professions. Vivid colours and deep blacks in high resolutions guarantee the best quality when it comes to creating images, models and videos. The most popular GPUs on the market are from AMD and NVIDIA. NVIDIA’s Quadro-series and AMD’s Radeon Pro series have been specifically engineered for sophisticated professional applications. Both brands offer a range of outstandingly powerful graphics cards and which one you go for is, ultimately, down to personal preference.

Long battery life for the best efficiency.

The ability to work without having to be plugged into the mains is the huge benefit of notebooks. A battery life of up to eight hours means you can work effectively from anywhere and this mobility makes a business notebook a real all-rounder.
