Dimitri Schneider

“When it came to discussions and conflicts, I always used to be quite reserved,” says Dimitri Schneider as he looks back on his time as a vocational trainee. These days, he’s grown in confidence, which is essential for his job as tough conversations are part of his day-to-day business as a team leader in Claims Management. He and his eight employees are responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction in dispatch from Neckarsulm, Hamburg and Bielefeld and this requires calm communications, fast solutions and a positive mindset. “I’m delighted every time we find an answer to an issue and everyone involved is happy,” says Dimitri. “It’s incredibly fulfilling to scrutinise systems and make sure an issue is resolved satisfactorily.”

“If you’re willing, you can achieve so much.”

After completing his secondary school leaving certificate, Dimitri started vocational training at Bechtle before being taken on by Claims Management. He was incredibly interested in growing professionally and was supported in that by an experienced mentor and his managers. This allowed him to graduate from the University of Applied Science after following a part-time course before also completing a Bachelor in ERP and Logistics as part of a dual-study programme. This course was the first of its kind at Bechtle and was made possible after he made a request. With all this under his belt, he then received an offer to take on leadership responsibilities. “That’s what I like most about Bechtle. If you’re willing, you can achieve so much. You aren’t just a number here. People actually see you,” says Dimitri, grateful for the ever-changing perspectives.

Day-to-day business in warehouse logistics has a lot to do with change. “We’re very interested in digital innovations,” explains Dimitri. “We’re currently leveraging robot-based process automation to process claims, which is reducing our workload by about 60%.” Suggestions for how to further optimise and facilitate working are always welcome and its this openness that greeted him on day one and which remains a central feature in his own team. “We have a very trusting relationship, speak openly about mistakes and work together to find solutions,” says Dimitri. A good atmosphere is also important to him, and a team spirit and humour are a part of that—be it in the daily team meeting or over a coffee.

A wealth of opportunities.

For Dimitri, the icing on the cake of working for Bechtle are the regular parties such as the Bechtle Breeze summer event held in the headquarter’s garden and the small farewell parties for retiring colleagues. “That’s when photos from 20 or 30 years ago come out and you can really feel the bond between the people,” says Dimitri. What’s more, he likes to make use of the corporate benefits, which have helped him get an affordable Job Bike and new glasses. Right now, he’s looking for good financing conditions for a new car.

He always had his sights set on leading a team, so what are his new objectives? “I’d like to automate more logistics processes so we can offer an even higher quality,” says Dimitri. And for him personally? “We’ll see. Bechtle is a stable employer offering a whole wealth of opportunities. I’m sure more doors will open in the future,” he says. The journey continues.
