What is Microsoft 365 E7?

Microsoft 365 E7 is a new premium enterprise suite that combines:

  • Microsoft 365 E5: Productivity, security and compliance
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot: Embeds AI directly into everyday workflows
  • Microsoft Entra Suite: Extends identity and access controls to users, apps, and agents, enabling secure access, conditional controls, and least-privilege governance
  • Agent 365: Delivers centralised governance, visibility, and control for AI agents
Microsoft E7

Together, these components create what Microsoft describes as a human‑led, agent‑operated system of work — where people set direction, and AI helps execute securely at scale.

Introducing Agent 365: governance for AI agents

One of the most significant elements of Microsoft 365 E7 is Agent 365.
What is Agent 365?
Agent 365 is not an AI agent itself. It is the control plane for AI agents, designed for IT and security teams.
It allows organisations to:

  • Observe – see every AI agent running across the business
  • Govern – apply policies, ownership and lifecycle controls
  • Secure – protect agents with identity, access and data controls

In simple terms: if AI agents behave like digital workers, Agent 365 manages them like digital employees.

Why this matters

Without a governance layer, AI agents can quickly become:

  • Invisible (“shadow agents”)
  • Over‑permissioned
  • Non‑compliant
  • A new attack surface

Agent 365 extends familiar Microsoft tools — Entra, Defender and Purview — to AI agents, giving IT and security leaders confidence to scale innovation without losing control.

Work IQ: intelligence grounded in real work

At the heart of Microsoft 365 E7 is Work IQ — an intelligence layer built on signals from emails, meetings, documents, chats and collaboration.

Work IQ allows AI to:

  • Maintain context across tasks and applications
  • Understand priorities, relationships and workflows
  • Deliver consistent, relevant outcomes, not one‑off responses

This is what enables Copilot and agents to move beyond assistance and into end‑to‑end execution, aligned to how your organisation actually works.

Who is Microsoft 365 E7 for?

Microsoft 365 E7 is designed for organisations that want to:

  • Move beyond AI experimentation
  • Deploy Copilot and agents broadly across the workforce
  • Maintain strong security, compliance and visibility
