      Mainstream maintenance of SAP software versions are limited in time. In order not to pay any additional costs for extended maintenance or to receive manufacturer support, the SAP products must be updated regularly, according to the information in the Product Availability Matrix (PAM).

      Specification of SAP Release Upgrade:

      The following are the activities of Bechtle employees, where Bechtle advises and supports the customer:

      • Determination of the current release matrix and dependencies between operating system, database software and SAP software updates as well as SAP recommendations
      • Preparation of the detailed upgrade procedure based on SAP guides, SAP notes as well as add-ons, support packages and patches to be included
      • Checking all system requirements for the SAP upgrade
      • Installing and updating the required upgrade tools and deploying the available add-ons and support packages
      • Execution of the Prepare phase of the SAP upgrade and reviewing or editing of the results
      • Execution of the technical SAP upgrade according to SAP documentation
      • Technical rework of the upgrade according to SAP documentation
      • Documentation of customer-specific settings and activities as part of the upgrade 
      Optional Services: SAP Unicode Migration: 

      Unicode is an international standard for character representations. There are two compelling reasons to switch the SAP system to Unicode.

      1. From the SAP kernel release NetWeaver 7.5 and SAP ERP 6.0 EHP8, the system must be switched to Unicode.

      2. A prerequisite for a S/4HANA conversion is an Unicode database. Systems that have not yet performed unicode migration cannot be converted to SAP S/4HANA in one technical step.

       

      Specification:
      • Preparation and execution of a SAP Unicode workshop with all departments and teams involved (project manager from the customer, key user of the department, SAP development). The result is a coordinated project plan with all necessary activities
      • Preparation of the Unicode migration on the basis of the SAP Unicode Conversion Guide in the corresponding version as well as the necessary SAP notes
      • Implementation of the technical SAP Unicode conversion
      • Technical rework of the Unicode conversion according to SAP UC-Guide
      • Documentation of customer-specific settings and activities as part of Unicode Conversion

        Quantity structure:
      • A SAP system landscape with 3 SAP systems (DEV, QA, PROD)
      • Database size per system smaller than 1 TB
