The Challenge.

PureGym had become increasingly dissatisfied with its incumbent Microsoft Licensing Solution Provider. The relationship had become largely transactional, offering limited strategic insight and insufficient proactive guidance. As a result, PureGym felt it was not achieving optimal value from its Microsoft investment and lacked confidence that its licensing estate was being managed as effectively as possible.

In response, PureGym initiated a formal RFP process to identify a partner that could deliver both stronger commercial outcomes and trusted advisory support. The organisation was looking for a provider that could move beyond simple licence fulfilment and instead offer clear, strategic direction aligned to its wider business and technology goals.

The Objectives.

With these challenges in mind, PureGym set out several key objectives for the project:

  • To secure a more strategic and proactive Microsoft licensing partner
  • To achieve improved commercial value and clearer cost control
  • To gain confidence that its Microsoft estate was correctly licensed and compliant
  • To receive trusted, ongoing advice aligned to its technical roadmap and long-term goals

Ultimately, PureGym wanted a partner that would act as an extension of its team, providing clarity,
insight and confidence rather than reactive, transactional support.

The Solution.

A collaborative and strategic approach.

Bechtle worked closely with PureGym to gain a deep understanding of its environment, challenges and commercial priorities. This included a detailed review of the existing Microsoft estate, open discussions around objectives, and a clear exploration of what success would look like for the organisation.
Drawing on extensive Microsoft licensing expertise, Bechtle carried out detailed commercial modelling and provided clear guidance on the most appropriate licensing options. This ensured PureGym had full visibility of its choices, understood the implications of each option, and could make informed decisions with confidence.

Bechtle provided a high standard of service during PureGym’s recent Microsoft licence renewal, which involved a complex scope across multiple licensing models and stakeholder groups. Throughout the engagement, Bechtle demonstrated strong subject matter expertise in Microsoft licensing and provided clear, structured guidance across both Enterprise Agreement and CSP components. Communication was timely and professional, with queries addressed promptly and information presented in a way that supported effective internal decision making. The team showed particular strength in managing complexity, ensuring accuracy of figures, and maintaining transparency around options, cost structures, and implications. This greatly assisted coordination between IT, Finance, and Procurement and reduced risk during a critical renewal period. Overall, Bechtle delivered the renewal in a controlled, well managed manner and met expectations for a strategic licensing partner. We value the quality of support provided and consider Bechtle a reliable supplier for Microsoft licensing and related advisory services.
