Neckarsulm, 27 November 2024 – As of 1 January 2025, Christian Speck, 54, will assume the newly created role of Vice President Switzerland at Bechtle. In this position, he will oversee the activities of Bechtle Schweiz AG, Bechtle Suisse SA, and Bechtle direct. The appointment establishes Bechtle’s third vice presidential position focused on national operations, following similar positions for the Netherlands and France. Christian Speck will report to Bechtle COO, Konstantin Ebert.
With the appointment of Christian Speck as Vice President, Bechtle is bringing its previously distinct sales channels—IT System House & Managed Services, and IT E-commerce—under unified leadership. The goal is to strengthen cross-channel collaboration to deliver more comprehensive customer support and capitalise on additional synergies. In his new role, the 54-year-old, who currently serves as Managing Director for Bechtle Schweiz AG, will also oversee the nationwide implementation of an integrated multi-channel strategy. “Christian Speck has an outstanding track record both as a leader and within our industry. We believe that this move will further solidify our position as a leading IT partner for SMEs, large enterprises, and public-sector clients in Switzerland, while driving significant growth,” says Konstantin Ebert, COO, Bechtle AG.
Experienced top manager to lead continued development
Christian Speck has served as Managing Director of IT service provider Bechtle Schweiz AG since 2020, following his role as co-Managing Director at Steffen Informatik AG, which was acquired by Bechtle in 2016. He subsequently joined the board of Bechtle Steffen Schweiz AG. In addition to a degree in electrical engineering, Mr Speck holds an Executive MBA in General Management from the University of St Gallen. He is also a voluntary board member of HSG Alumni in St Gallen.
“I am very excited about my new role as Bechtle’s Vice President for Switzerland. By integrating all of our sales channels, we will be able to provide our customers with a seamless experience throughout their digital transformation journey—ranging from smart sourcing to IT infrastructure and innovation projects, as well as efficient managed services. Companies in Switzerland will also benefit from the Bechtle Group’s extensive capabilities to support their organisations across Europe and worldwide,” says Christian Speck.
Christian Speck to assume responsibilities from Hanspeter Oeschger
On 1 January 2025, Hanspeter Oeschger will conclude his tenure as Bechtle’s Executive Vice President for Switzerland, marking the end of an era. A respected leader in the IT industry, he will assist the transition to Christian Speck until the end of March 2025 and then retire from the company as planned. At 65, he looks forward to dedicating more time to his family and hobbies and pursuing further education in artificial intelligence.
Hanspeter Oeschger joined Bechtle alongside Christian Speck through the acquisition of Steffen Informatik, where he was co-founder and Managing Director. In January 2019, he took on the role of Executive Vice President for IT System House & Managed Services Switzerland. In this capacity, he was pivotal in the strategic and organisational restructuring of Bechtle’s IT system houses in Switzerland, as well as in advancing collaboration between the group’s companies in the market.
“Over the years, Hanspeter Oeschger has played a key role in driving our position in the Swiss market, making strategic decisions with foresight and exceptional business acumen, and leading Bechtle in Switzerland to substantial growth despite economic challenges. We are very grateful for his contributions and can happily say that he is handing over a well-positioned organisation to his successor and long-time colleague, Christian Speck,” says Michael Guschlbauer, COO, Bechtle AG.
A strong IT partner for Swiss businesses
Switzerland was Bechtle’s first market outside Germany, marking the start of its international expansion in 1996. Besides Bechtle direct and Bechtle Schweiz AG, which serve the German-speaking regions, and Bechtle Suisse SA, which focuses on the French-speaking parts of the country, the Bechtle Group’s Swiss operations today include ERP and CRM specialist Apronda AG, as well as subsidiaries specialising in PLM solutions, Solid Solutions AG and SGSolution AG. Bechtle employs a total of 1,162 people across 12 locations in Switzerland and generated nearly 505 million euros in revenue in the 2023 fiscal year.
