Digital future.

IT as a driver of sustainable progress.

Digitalisation is a key enabler of a sustainable future. As an IT service provider, Bechtle takes responsibility both within its own organisation and in supporting customers as they move towards more sustainable ways of working.
At Bechtle Netherlands, our focus on the digital future centres on three closely connected priorities. Together, they reflect how we use technology to advance sustainability, manage risk and deliver solutions that are ready for the future.

  • Sustainable in-house digitalisation
  • Sustainable IT solutions and services
  • Information security and data protection

Sustainable in-house digitalisation.

Efficient IT reduces the environmental footprint.

The digital transformation of our own organisation creates clear opportunities to work more efficiently and reduce environmental impact. That’s why we focus on making our internal IT environment and infrastructure more sustainable. This approach not only supports our own climate ambitions, but also provides the foundation for IT services that are reliable, secure and scalable for our customers. By bringing together efficiency, responsible energy use and digital accountability, we create real long-term value.

What we do in practice
  • We design and operate IT infrastructure with energy efficiency in mind, including data centres.
  • Wherever possible, we use electricity from renewable sources for our IT operations, in line with group-wide climate objectives.
  • We actively manage energy performance using indicators such as Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) for data centres.
  • We optimise systems and applications to avoid unnecessary consumption of energy and natural resources.
  • We use digital solutions to make internal processes more efficient and less resource-intensive.

Together, these measures contribute to reducing Scope 2 emissions and support our science-based net-zero ambition.

How we ensure this is embedded
  • Sustainability is an integral part of how we govern IT and digitalisation.
  • Clear responsibilities for sustainability within IT are defined at group level.
  • We track performance and progress using established indicators and report transparently on results.
  • Our approach is aligned with Bechtle AG’s overarching Digital & IT Strategy, ensuring consistency across local and international initiatives.

Sustainable IT solutions and services.

Technology as a driver of sustainability for customers.

IT plays a central role in helping organisations operate more sustainably. As an IT service provider, Bechtle supports customers in turning sustainability objectives into practical, achievable outcomes. Our focus is on delivering IT solutions and services that enable more efficient use of energy and resources, reduce emissions and support future-ready digital infrastructures. This approach aligns with Bechtle AG’s Sustainability Strategy 2030, which explicitly positions IT as an enabler of sustainable transformation. Sustainable IT solutions and services form the link between our own sustainability ambitions and the impact we can achieve for customers. By bringing together technology, data and expertise, Bechtle helps organisations move forward while reducing their environmental footprint.

What we mean by sustainable IT solutions

Sustainable IT solutions are technologies and services that enable:

  • Energy‑ and resource‑efficient operation
  • Extended service life for IT assets
  • Reduced environmental and climate impact for customers
  • Transparency, monitoring and data‑driven management

Our approach covers the entire IT lifecycle—from design and procurement through use and optimisation to end‑of‑life.

What we do in practice
  • We advise customers on energy‑efficient IT infrastructures, including modern data centre and cloud solutions.
  • We support customers in transitioning to cloud and hybrid IT environments that make more efficient use of capacity and energy.
  • We offer IT lifecycle management solutions that allow hardware to be used for longer and reused or disposed of responsibly.
  • We provide customers with data‑driven insights into energy consumption, performance, optimisation potential, and more.
  • We work with technology partners that invest in sustainable innovation and energy‑efficient technologies.

Through these services, we help reduce our customers’ indirect emissions (Scope 3 downstream) and support their sustainability ambitions.

How we ensure this is embedded
  • Sustainability considerations are built into our consulting and sales processes.
  • We develop our portfolio in line with Bechtle’s group‑wide sustainability and digitalisation strategy.
  • Employees receive ongoing training to advise customers on sustainable IT choices.
  • We continuously monitor market developments and technological innovation to refine our offering.

Information security and data protection.

Digital responsibility and trust.

A sustainable digital future depends on reliable, secure IT. Information security and data protection are therefore essential prerequisites for trust among customers, partners and employees. At Bechtle Netherlands, we take responsibility for protecting data, systems and digital processes—both within our own organisation and across the IT services and solutions we deliver to our customers. Our approach aligns with Bechtle AG’s Sustainability Strategy 2030 and its governance and risk frameworks, and is an integral part of our day-to-day operations. Information security and data protection also underpin our other activities for a digital future. A secure digital foundation is essential for sustainable in-house digitalisation and for the responsible deployment of IT solutions at our customers’. In this way, digital security contributes to sustainable value creation and long-term trust. Our information security and data protection measures enable:

  • Availability, integrity and confidentiality of information
  • The protection of personal data and business‑critical information
  • Resilience against digital threats and incidents
  • Compliance with applicable laws and regulations

This applies both to our internal IT environment and to the services and solutions we provide to customers.

What we do in practice
  • We protect IT systems and data against digital threats through suitable technical and organisational measures.
  • We apply clear policies for data protection and privacy in line with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • We employ defined processes for risk assessment, incident management and business continuity.
  • We place ongoing emphasis on awareness and skills development in information security among employees.
  • We support customers in the secure and responsible use of digital technologies, including cloud and data solutions.
How we ensure this is embedded
  • Information security and data protection are embedded in our governance and risk management framework.
  • We work in line with international standards and recognised best practices for information security.
  • Roles, responsibilities and procedures are clearly defined and reviewed regularly.
  • Our approach is aligned with Bechtle’s group-wide security and compliance structures.
  • We monitor developments in threats and regulatory frameworks and adapt our policies accordingly.
