From 2027, the CRA will decide whether your product is marketable.

Those who are not prepared risk penalties and loss of market access.

Where clear boundaries once existed, data streams now flow: IT and OT are converging, machines and products are networked, and entire buildings are digitally controlled. With every step into this future, the risk also increases. Smart products are not only more efficient, but also more vulnerable.

With the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), the European Union has sent a clear signal: cyber security is becoming a legal requirement. From the end of 2027, only products with digital elements that meet the new security requirements will be allowed on the European market. For companies, this means binding requirements, clear deadlines, and heavy penalties for non-compliance.

The scope is greater than many people assume. The CRA affects not only traditional IT, but also smart buildings, digital products, and smart factories. Gateways that connect IT and OT worlds are particularly critical. Their architecture makes them indispensable, but at the same time they are a preferred target for attacks. However, many other devices and applications will also have to meet the new requirements in the future.
