Neckarsulm, 20 October 2026 – Under a new framework agreement, Bechtle is providing the German Aerospace Center’s Quantum Computing Initiative (DLR QCI) with cloud-based quantum computing capacity on systems from IQM Quantum Computers. This expands the quantum computing resources available to DLR QCI application teams, complements its existing technology portfolio and creates additional opportunities to benchmark against existing quantum systems. The IQM Resonance™ cloud platform supports efficient use through seamless user and group management and provides the foundation for planning, developing, running and managing quantum algorithms throughout the development lifecycle.

DLR QCI brings together start-ups, industry, research institutions and the public sector in a strong ecosystem for sovereign and competitive quantum computing. The initiative commissions companies to develop quantum computers, quantum algorithms and relevant applications, with a focus on real-world use cases in areas such as materials research, aerospace, mobility and security. DLR QCI is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space.

Through its Competence Centre for Quantum Technologies, Bechtle IT System House Bonn manages user onboarding and account administration for DLR QCI on the IQM Resonance™ platform and provides computing time on IQM’s superconducting quantum systems. This ensures secure and efficient operation, backed by comprehensive support from expert teams at both Bechtle and IQM.
DLR QCI pursues a diverse mix of technologies and commissions companies to develop quantum computers based on approaches including trapped ions, neutral atoms, photonics and NV centres. Superconducting quantum systems now add another key technology to this portfolio.
Bechtle and IQM entered into a partnership in 2024 and have steadily expanded their collaboration since then. Through this partnership, DLR QCI will have cloud-based access to IQM’s quantum systems until June 2027, complemented by conventional computing resources at IQM’s data centre in Munich. A dedicated server provisioned exclusively for DLR QCI supports hybrid workloads and quantum algorithms that combine high-performance computing systems with quantum computing resources.
