Gütersloh, 1 October 2026 – Two years after construction began, Bechtle today officially opened its new IT Future Hub in Gütersloh. The expansion of MODUS Consult’s site on James-Watt-Straße 6 has transformed the location into a shared campus, combining a new building, a central atrium and extensively modernised existing facilities, with a multi-storey car park completing the development. Around 500 employees from MODUS Consult, the Bechtle IT System House Hanover/Gütersloh and the Bechtle International Division now work side by side on the campus, bringing expertise together under one roof and underscoring Bechtle's long-term commitment to Gütersloh.
The new IT Future Hub provides around 3,700 square metres of office and community space. At the heart of the campus, a 380-square-metre atrium with reception, bistro and lounge areas links the new building with the extensively modernised existing facilities. Designed to encourage both professional and personal exchange, the campus creates an environment that supports close collaboration across teams and locations. The IT Future Hub is officially being opened today following the Bechtle x MODUS Consult IT Forum, attended by guests from the words of business, politics and the media.
The project was planned and delivered by architects Kreor. Since construction began in April 2024, a four-storey extension providing around 2,000 square metres of additional space has been built at the site, while the existing buildings have been extensively modernised without disrupting day-to-day operations. Office areas were also redesigned and adapted to support modern ways of working and collaboration.
Renewable energy concept
The new IT Future Hub features a renewable energy concept and meets Germany’s EH55 efficiency standard. Geothermal energy provides both heating and cooling, while large-scale photovoltaic systems installed on the roof of the newly built multi-storey car park generate renewable electricity.
Initial planning for the campus began in 2022. Despite a six-month delay caused by the more extensive modernisation work required in the existing buildings, the project was completed within the approved budget. Bechtle does not disclose investment volumes as a matter of policy. “The new campus lays the foundations for MODUS Consult’s next phase of growth while strengthening collaboration across the Bechtle Group. At the same time, it reflects our commitment to providing a modern working environment for our employees and underscores our long-term commitment to Gütersloh and the region,” said Birgit Merschmann, Managing Director of MODUS Consult GmbH, Gütersloh. Birgit Merschmann leads the Microsoft-focused IT company together with Bernhard Alsdorf. MODUS Consult has been part of the Bechtle Group for ten years.
Stronger connections
Across the Bechtle Group, locations are increasingly being developed into IT Future Hubs—environments designed to foster collaboration, creativity and professional development. Extending beyond the region, the new Gütersloh hub will further strengthen cooperation with other Bechtle locations across the group.
