Neckarsulm, 19 February 2026 – With its new offering, Bechtle CO₂-Conscious IT, Bechtle AG is further expanding its sustainable product portfolio. The service enables customers of the IT service provider to offset carbon emissions generated during the production and delivery of purchased IT hardware. Bechtle delivers its service in collaboration with Berlin-based carbon offsetting specialist goodcarbon, which meets recognised quality and verification standards.
At the core of the service is a transparent calculation of emissions by Bechtle, which are documented in detailed reports. On this basis, customers can choose to offset the calculated emissions through carefully selected climate projects. The offsetting itself is handled by goodcarbon, which applies a rigorous Nature Analytics Framework to develop, assess and monitor nature-based solutions (NBS). The framework ensures consistently high standards in terms of quality, transparency and measurable impact.
“Each project undergoes a comprehensive assessment of its climate impact, biodiversity benefits and social co-benefits. The projects selected for Bechtle CO₂-Conscious IT enable companies to credibly support their beyond value chain mitigation (BVCM) activities in line with the requirements of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi),” explains Jérôme Cochet, Co-Founder and CEO of goodcarbon. BVCM refers to climate action outside a company’s own value chain that complements, but does not replace, direct emissions reductions. Examples include financing renewable energy projects in other regions, protecting or restoring natural ecosystems, removing greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, and supporting initiatives that help avoid emissions in developing countries.
New service supports customers in achieving their climate goals
With this new service, Bechtle strengthens its position as a responsible and forward-looking IT partner, underlining its commitment to sustainability and climate protection as an integral part of future-ready IT infrastructures. “With our new offsetting service, we help our customers achieve the objectives set out in their climate strategies in a credible and transparent way,” says Sophie Mándoki, Chief Sustainability Manager at Bechtle AG. “Bechtle CO₂-Conscious IT combines environmental responsibility with tangible added value for our customers.”
Even with optimised production and procurement processes, carbon emissions arising from the manufacture and delivery of IT hardware cannot be completely avoided. As these emissions occur in the upstream value chain, they are reported under Scope 3 of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG). Bechtle CO₂-Conscious IT enables organisations to account for these unavoidable emissions within their carbon footprint in line with GHG requirements.
As part of its Climate Strategy 2030/2050 and its SBTi-aligned reduction targets, Germany’s largest IT system house will also work with goodcarbon to offset its own unavoidable emissions.
