Environment.
Taking responsibility for our environmental impact.
Responsible environmental practices are integral to how Bechtle does business. As an IT service provider, we are aware of our environmental impact—both within our own organisation and across the value chain. Our focus is on reducing our environmental footprint impact and encouraging more sustainable choices. At Bechtle Netherlands, our environmental approach covers several closely connected focus areas. Together, they provide clear direction and ensure that climate action and sustainability are translated into concrete policies and measures.
- Climate and carbon footprint
- Sustainable logistics
- Circular IT
Climate and carbon footprint.
Insight, reduction and responsibility.
We take responsibility for reducing greenhouse gas emissions both within our own organisation and across our value chain. We strive to understand our emissions footprint, reduce emissions where they occur, and report transparently on our progress. Our approach is based on the Bechtle Group’s Climate Protection Strategy 2030 and aligned with internationally recognised standards for climate reporting and climate targets.
- We measure and report our greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, including Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3.
- We are committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and pursue a net‑zero target aligned with the 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement.
- We identify our most material emission sources and focus reduction measures on these areas.
- We reduce emissions through measures related to energy use, mobility, logistics and IT infrastructure.
- We increase the share of renewable energy used within our own organisation.
- We monitor and report regularly on carbon emissions and progress towards our targets.
- Climate targets are embedded in policies and decision‑making.
- Our approach is aligned with group‑wide climate guidelines and targets within the Bechtle Group.
- Priority is given to preventing and reducing emissions, with compensation used only for remaining, unavoidable emissions.
Sustainable logistics.
More efficient transport with lower environmental impact.
With a significant flow of goods, Bechtle takes responsibility for making its logistics more sustainable. Our focus is on reducing emissions, improving transport efficiency and minimising material use across our logistics operations.
Our approach aligns with the Bechtle Group’s Climate Protection Strategy 2030 and is guided by a commitment to continuous improvement throughout the logistics chain.
- We consolidate orders and optimise deliveries to reduce the number of transport movements.
- We use more sustainable packaging solutions, including reusable and recycled materials.
- We actively promote reusable transport packaging, such as the Bechtle Box©.
- We work with logistics partners that invest in lower‑emission transport solutions, including electric vehicles for last‑mile delivery.
- We optimise the use of space in warehouses to make logistics processes more efficient.
- We work closely with long‑standing logistics partners.
- We regularly review logistics performance and environmental impact.
- We gradually introduce sustainable logistics policies across our organisation.
- Our activities align with the Bechtle Group’s broader sustainability objectives.
Circular IT.
Extending the life of IT assets and using them responsibly.
IT hardware has a significant environmental impact, particularly due to the use of raw materials, energy consumption and end‑of‑life processing. That’s why Bechtle focuses on circular IT—keeping IT assets in use for as long as possible and ensuring they are reused or recycled responsibly. Our circular approach aims to reduce waste, conserve resources and encourage more sustainable choices across the IT value chain.
- We extend the service life of IT hardware through reuse and refurbishment.
- We support customers in making circular IT choices, for example when replacing or redeploying equipment.
- We ensure the responsible collection and processing of decommissioned IT equipment.
- We work with certified partners for recycling and secure data destruction.
- Wherever possible, we reduce e‑waste by giving IT assets a second life.
- Clear processes for the disposal, reuse and recycling of IT hardware.
- Close cooperation with certified refurbishment and recycling partners.
- Integration of circularity into our services and customer advice.
- Alignment with the Bechtle Group’s sustainability objectives.
