Bechtle awarded GovTech Deutschland framework agreement for cloud and AI services.
Bechtle has been awarded a major framework agreement by GovTech Deutschland. As a multi‑cloud broker, Bechtle will provide cloud and AI services for federal, state and municipal government organisations, laying the foundation for a scalable, secure and sovereign multi‑cloud environment.
Unified access to cloud and AI resources for the public sector.
GovTech Deutschland awarded the framework agreement to Bechtle via an EU‑wide tender. It has a maximum contract value of up to 250 million euros and runs for an initial term of two years, with the option of two one‑year extensions. The agreement is open to all full members of GovTech Deutschland across federal, state and municipal levels.
Under the agreement, Bechtle will act as a multi‑cloud broker, giving public‑sector organisations access to cloud and AI services from international hyperscalers as well as European cloud providers via a unified platform. The initial portfolio includes Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure, alongside Bechtle Open Cloud Services, Exoscale, T‑Cloud Public and STACKIT. The aim is to integrate different cloud offerings seamlessly and make them usable across a wide range of deployment scenarios.

Complementing GovTech Deutschland’s multi‑cloud orchestration.
The framework agreement complements GovTech Deutschland’s previously awarded multi‑cloud orchestration component. While the orchestration layer provides a standardised way to operate applications across different cloud infrastructures, the multi‑cloud broker ensures uniform access to the underlying cloud and AI resources. The two elements are aligned by design and form the basis for a seamless and sovereign multi‑cloud architecture in the public sector.
Foundation for Deutschlandplattform and MEDI:CUS.
Flagship initiatives such as the MEDI:CUS health platform and the Deutschlandplattform – a central platform for cross‑government digital services – are set to benefit directly from the new contractual framework. Both already support the development, operation and cross‑organisational use of digital applications. With the framework agreement in place, Bechtle is building on this existing architecture to enable transparent procurement, simpler governance and the secure, scalable operation of cloud and AI resources.
A joint initiative of Germany’s federal and state governments and the tech community, GovTech Deutschland is a central platform for developing, testing and scaling digital technologies for the public sector. GovTech brings together administrative bodies at all levels of government with start-ups, technology companies, research institutions and civil-society organisations, facilitating the development, validation and rollout of reusable digital solutions and platforms that strengthen government effectiveness and digital sovereignty.
With the framework agreements for cloud and AI infrastructure now in place, we have established a clear formal basis for using these services in a secure and sovereign manner. This is an important step towards building a truly capable digital public administration.

We are very pleased with the trust placed in Bechtle and with being awarded this strategically important contract. As a multi‑cloud broker we bring a wide range of cloud offerings together in a central, standardised environment, significantly reducing complexity.
