Bechtle is joining a growing ecosystem of more than 170 organisations that are working together to establish the technical and organisational foundations needed for a secure and user-friendly rollout of the EUDI Wallet. The company plans to make its own business processes wallet-ready and support the development of use cases across public administration and the private sector.
The government-backed EUDI Wallet app, which will launch in Germany under the name “d-you” in early 2027, will enable citizens and businesses to identify themselves securely online and use official credentials from their smartphones. Initially, users will be able to access digital versions of identity documents such as ID cards and driving licences. Over time, additional features including electronic signatures, certificates, and digital public and business services will further expand the wallet’s capabilities. Based on the European eIDAS 2.0 Regulation, the initiative lays the foundation for digital identities that can be used across all EU member states.
The wallet, which can be used across the EU, will be available free of charge to all citizens in Germany from 2 January 2027. Bechtle will play an active role in the rollout, drawing on its extensive experience in integrating digital identity solutions, connecting specialised public-sector applications, and delivering new digital services.
