Bechtle becomes partner for new sovereign cloud offering from Thales and Google Cloud.
Bechtle is expanding its sovereign cloud portfolio with a new offering from Thales, developed in partnership with Google Cloud. As a distribution partner, Bechtle will bring the solution to the German market, with availability planned for the end of 2026. The offering targets organisations with the strictest requirements for data protection, compliance and digital sovereignty. Its focus is on public-sector organisations and companies in highly regulated industries looking to run modern cloud workloads under full operational control and within a German legal framework.
Sovereign cloud based on a proven European model.
French technology group Thales and Google Cloud have announced a strategic partnership to build a sovereign cloud in Germany. At the core of the model is a new, independent German subsidiary of Thales that ensures operational separation from Google Cloud.
Operations, infrastructure and data storage will be located exclusively in Germany and governed by German law. This ensures that sensitive data is consistently protected from access by third countries and exposure to extraterritorial legislation. The approach follows a model already established in France with S3NS, a Thales subsidiary that successfully operates a sovereign cloud platform there. It combines the benefits of hyperscale technology with stringent national and European security and compliance requirements.

Reduced compliance burden for multinational organisations.
The solution is already available in preview, with general availability planned for the end of 2026. It incorporates the C5 criteria published by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), as well as the new C3A framework, also issued by the BSI. Combined with the SecNumCloud 3.2 qualification already achieved in France, this significantly reduces the compliance burden for multinational organisations.
