Jesper Kleinjohann, CEO, Planet AI

SPOC-AI builds on Planet AI’s IDA platform for intelligent document analysis, extending it with the latest AI technologies. Bechtle has held a majority stake in Planet AI since 2003. The Rostock-based software specialist is known for its expertise in cognitive artificial intelligence and award-winning technologies for handwriting and visual recognition.

The project includes the development of AI agents that can efficiently process large datasets and carry out complex tasks autonomously, supported by a “human-in-the-loop” approach to ensure transparency. By actively involving users, this method makes decision-making more transparent and understandable. The team is also developing domain-specific large language models, tailored to the needs of different industries and professional fields.

One of the key features is that the system can be deployed entirely on the customer’s premises, making it fully independent of external cloud services.

From a research perspective, we’re particularly interested in explainable AI—understanding how algorithms arrive at specific outcomes.

The project partnership also includes Rostock-based tech company Altow Digital Innovation, contributing its proven expertise in user-centred digital solutions, UX design, and custom software development.

Through this initiative, the partners are not only driving forward technological innovation, but also helping establish Rostock as a digital innovation hub both in the region and across Germany.
