The ninth edition of Bechtle's Competence Center Days was held on 13 and 14 March 2013 with this year's event motto: “The Future of Business IT”. Over 1,500 customers, vendors, partners and employees got the latest on IT developments and Bechtle's range of products and services.
Neckarsulm, 18 March 2013 – With its sights set firmly on conquering the future, the annual technology fair was held at company headquarters at Bechtle Platz 1 in Neckarsulm, Germany. The main topic of Bechtle's largest customer event was the question: “What is it that makes IT such an essential, long-term component in successful business processes?” Now in its ninth year, the “Competence Center Days” technology fair has once again proved to be a popular event for decision makers in the IT industry. More than 130 Bechtle specialists at 60 different stands shared their expertise on a wide range of topics, ranging from mobility, virtualisation, servers and storage, to Bechtle Managed Services, IT security, client management and networking solutions.
Mobility and Cloud Solutions in High Demand.
Visitors showed particular interest in the mobile workplace of the future and the corresponding mobile device management. Cloud computing was also in high demand, covering such topics as “build your own cloud” and cloud security. “Once again, we've really captured the Zeitgeist and the customer's attention with this year's fair. All the positive feedback is good proof of that. We did a good job of displaying Bechtle's wide range of services while focusing on current and future IT concerns,” explained Gerhard Marz, head of Bechtle's public sector division.
Wide Spectrum of Information: Stands and Presentations.
To supplement the information available at stands, Bechtle employees held 76 presentations on select strategic and technical topics, many of which were completely booked out. The Bechtle Shared Service Desk and IT Control Room also garnered lots of attention. The Question & Answer stands were manned throughout the event by specialists available to answer individual requests. “The combination of specialised knowledge and one-on-one contact with experts is a great benefit of the Competence Center Days. The event gives customers the opportunity to discuss the latest IT trends and topics with the right contacts in each field and find tailor-made solutions to their individual needs,” continued Marz.
Crowds Gathered to Hear Futurologists Horx and Opaschowski.
To go along with this year's motto, “The Future of Business IT”, Bechtle was able to welcome two of the most prominent German futurologists, Matthias Horx and Prof Dr Horst W Opaschowski, as guest speakers for the event. Matthias Horx emphasised the importance of evaluating societal, economic and cultural shifts when predicting future trends, including trends in the IT industry. Prof Dr Horst Opaschowski, described in the Süddeutsche daily as “truly one of the greats when it comes to futurology”, is well-recognised for backing up his theories with sound scientific facts.
CEO Gives Positive Summary.
After two successful and informative days, Dr Thomas Olemotz, CEO of Bechtle, was upbeat: “To learn so much about the industry and our company at the Competence Center Days, and to have all this information presented as well as it was, is a great opportunity for our customers. We've received positive feedback from all visitors.” The goal of the technology fair is to give visitors a good taste of the wide range of services and strengths that Bechtle has to offer.
