Challenge.
Since the beginning of 2026, legal professionals in Germany have been required to exchange documents with the courts electronically. The Saxon judiciary is also making increasing use of electronic case files. To give staff more screen space for working with digital documents, LIT wanted to add a third monitor to workstations in courts and administrative offices. Maintaining a consistent workstation setup was a key requirement, with all three monitors expected to match as closely as possible in terms of age, technology and appearance. However, six different monitor models were in use across the Saxon judiciary. LIT wanted to continue using existing equipment wherever possible and purchase only the additional displays it needed. The task was to determine the best monitor combinations for each location and roll them out across 25 sites without disrupting day-to-day operations.
We’re very pleased with how smoothly Bechtle reconfigured our workstations and how responsive the team was throughout the project. Even when court operations led to last-minute changes, the rollout stayed on schedule. Bechtle always accommodated our scheduling requirements and organised the rollout in a way that minimised disruption to our employees’ day-to-day work.

Solution.
Using LIT’s inventory records, Bechtle reviewed each location individually and matched existing monitors into suitable workstation configurations. By grouping the six monitor models according to appearance and performance, the team was able to determine where additional displays were needed and where existing equipment could continue to be used. Once the rollout concept had been finalised, Bechtle planned the implementation visits and coordinated schedules with all 25 locations. Working in pairs, technicians assembled the planned workstation setups, installed suitable monitor arms and ensured that all displays provided a consistent user experience. After testing each setup, Bechtle documented and inventoried every workstation. Monitors that were no longer required were transferred to the Saxon judiciary’s designated storage facilities. Conditions on site did not always match the inventory records. Workstations had been relocated, device numbers differed from expectations and new requirements occasionally emerged at short notice. Whenever this happened, the rollout team adapted the planned configuration or used reserve equipment to keep the project on track. LIT and Bechtle reviewed these changes in regular coordination meetings and adjusted the rollout plan accordingly. In total, Bechtle deployed more than 550 devices across 25 locations and completed the project within the planned two-month timeframe.
Business benefits.
- More space for digital case files: Additional displays give staff more room to work with electronic documents.
- Efficient use of existing resources: Suitable equipment remains in service, reducing the need for new hardware.
- Complete asset tracking: Every deployed device is assigned to a specific building, room and workstation.
- Consistent workstation setups: Three closely matched displays create a uniform user experience.
- Rollout delivered on schedule: Careful planning and extensive experience with the locations ensured a smooth implementation.
- Flexible implementation: Reserve equipment allowed the rollout team to respond quickly to changes on site.
