72 hours of self-sufficiency – a blueprint for the energy supply of the future.

ELE Verteilnetz GmbH has teamed up with Rittal and Bechtle to implement a unique communication and control system for its substations and gas pressure regulating stations. The aim was to design the infrastructure in such a way that it can operate independently for up to 72 hours in the event of a crisis – without relying on the power grid.

Thanks to modular outdoor racks from Rittal, intelligent UPS systems, and an SD-WAN-based IT infrastructure from Bechtle, a highly available, scalable, and secure solution was created that is now considered a model for other energy suppliers.
