Measuring what matters: Sustainability at Bechtle.
Participation in public tenders increasingly depends on being able to demonstrate a credible approach to environmental and climate protection, employee responsibility and transparent corporate governance. For Bechtle, recognised sustainability certifications have therefore become more than a compliance requirement. They are an important competitive differentiator.
The company’s recent EcoVadis Platinum rating illustrates how this commitment is translating into recognised external benchmarks, placing Bechtle among the top 1% of IT providers assessed by EcoVadis for sustainability performance. The assessment covers areas including environmental management, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
“A growing number of customers, particularly public-sector organisations and large enterprises, require sustainability credentials from their suppliers,” says Kaia Meyer-Benz, Sustainability Manager at Bechtle. Among the standards and certifications achieved in recent years are science-based climate targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), including the company’s commitment to reaching net zero by 2050. These external validations reflect Bechtle’s ongoing progress in sustainability and environmental performance. “Certifications are often a prerequisite for participating in tenders and winning contracts,” says Meyer-Benz. “Alongside commercial considerations, transparency, risk management and sustainability performance are playing an increasingly important role in procurement decisions.”

Innovation.
Bechtle was recently named HP Amplify Impact Sales Leader 2026/27, placing the company among HP’s leading sales partners in Germany. In addition to successfully completing the required training programmes, Bechtle stood out for its sustainability strategy, achieving an outstanding score of 90%.
For Bechtle, however, sustainability is about more than meeting procurement requirements. It is creating new opportunities for consulting services, business models and long-term customer relationships. “Companies increasingly look for partners that can support them not only with technology, but also with achieving their sustainability goals,” says Sabrina Kutsch, Sustainability Manager at Bechtle. Through its Sustainability@Scale sales approach, Bechtle is expanding its portfolio and opening up additional revenue opportunities beyond its traditional IT business.

In the view of Meyer-Benz and Kutsch, regulatory requirements relating to environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues can also act as a catalyst for innovation. “They encourage companies to challenge existing processes and develop new solutions that are fit for the future,” says Sabrina Kutsch.
Employer attractiveness.
Sustainability also plays an increasingly important role in attracting new talent, particularly among younger generations who place a high value on responsible business practices and a values-driven corporate culture. Through initiatives focused on diversity, equal opportunities and long-term climate goals, Bechtle is strengthening its position as an attractive employer. “This highlights just how many dimensions sustainability has for businesses,” says Kaia Meyer-Benz. “Beyond our corporate responsibilities, we also have a clear responsibility to society, which Bechtle embraces in many different ways. Fulfilling that responsibility goes far beyond meeting regulatory requirements.” Through transparent and verifiable measures, Bechtle is building credibility with customers, partners and employees alike while setting clear expectations for responsible business practices.
