Which two-factor authentication methods does Bechtle support?

IN A NUTSHELL

Bechtle supports two‑factor authentication (2FA) by email and via authentication app. Both methods add an extra layer of security to your account.

Supported 2FA methods

1. Email‑based 2FA

  • A one‑time code is sent to the email address saved in your account.

  • Once you have registered, you will receive a one-time code by email.

  • Enter the code after signing in to confirm access.

2. App‑based 2FA

  • You can set it up through a third‑party authentication app.

  • Supported apps include:

    • Google Authenticator

    • Microsoft Authenticator

    • Free OTP

  • The app generates time‑based one‑time codes (TOTP) that you enter when signing in.

Pre-requisites

  • For email‑based 2FA: A valid email address saved in your user profile.

  • For app‑based 2FA: A compatible authentication app installed on your mobile device.

Security notes

  • Using 2FA significantly increases account security.
  • App‑based 2FA offers additional protection because the code is generated locally on your device.
  • We recommend enabling your authentication app’s backup options so you can regain access if you lose your device.
