Neckarsulm, 21. August 2017 – For the third time in a row, the German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) has awarded Bechtle AG the framework agreement for IT components and services. Under this agreement, entitled “IT-Platform – 2./3. Rechnerebene”, which will run until 2021, authorised entities will be able to order products and services through established processes.
The framework agreement, signed on 28 June 2017, ensures seamless continuation of the services provided under similar agreements from 2009 and 2013. Bechtle will provide the German Bundeswehr with information technology for an additional four years, reinforcing their current technological partnership. “This new contract doesn’t just confirm the quality of the services we’ve provided over the past eight years, it also demonstrates confidence in Bechtle’s forward-facing strategy – especially in light of the increasing challenges of digitalisation. We’re very pleased to be given the opportunity to continue working with the Bundeswehr”, states Waldemar Zgrzebski, Managing Director of the Bechtle IT System House Bonn/Cologne. The agreement covers PCs, monitors, printers and other peripherals as well as servers. In addition to supplying devices, Bechtle’s services will include planning, installing, deploying and operating client/server networks.
Central services available locally.
As the principal contractor, Bechtle AG will be implementing the agreement along with its long-standing vendor partners HP and Dell EMC as well as service providers Conet Solutions and GBS Tempest. The Bundeswehr team at Bechtle’s Bonn-based IT systems integrator will be responsible for operational implementation and control while Bechtle AG will continue to be in charge of the project’s central organisation, which is to remain unchanged. Meanwhile, the Bechtle Group’s network of systems integrators stands ready to provide fast, on-site services for the Bundeswehr’s various locations throughout Germany. “Our highly successful partnership relies on an established, customer-focused organisation and processes that have proven their effectiveness over many years. This allows us to respond quickly and flexibly to the needs of the Bundeswehr and other authorised beneficiaries, especially with regard to the goal of consolidating IT at federal level. Bechtle is able to ideally link local proximity with central requirements”, states Jörg Terschüren, head of the Federal Projects Division at Bechtle AG.
