Critical security questions.
In 2022 there is not a company left that doesn’t have pressing questions regarding cyber security and the problems that come with it. This affects SMEs just as much as large organisations.
So why is that? Never before has the threat been so imminent. According to the CESIN 2022 Corporate Security Barometer, more than every second French company fell victim to at least one cyberattack in 2021. The average costs per cyberattack are scary, too: € 50,000.
The pandemic effectively increased the risk for cyberattacks dramatically. As criminals use sophisticated new techniques that can severely damage companies, the latter are desperately looking for IT experts that can prevent cyberattacks.
SMEs are scraping the barrel for talent.
Due to the abundance of service companies on the IT security market, the situation is especially difficult for SMEs who are struggling to be seen by cyber specialists, let alone win them over. While the threat is increasingly acute, the skilled labour shortage can be attributed to the fact that digitalisation in companies has advanced at a rapid pace and educational institutions simply cannot churn out new specialists in step.
According to an Apec study, France is missing almost 15,000 experts in this sector. Globally, companies are short about 4 million.
