- Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Alain Bouthemy, I’ve just turned 38, and I’m a devoted father to my daughter Elena.
- Could you tell us about how you started at Bechtle?
I joined Bechtle at the start of January 2011 as a Public Sector Account Manager. It was my job to build up a strong portfolio.
- What’s your professional background?
I’d just completed a degree in international trade and had always been very interested in business development.
IT was also one of my major interests.
Bringing together an IT environment, product expertise and my sales skills helped me to really spread my wings at Bechtle!
- What does your current role involve?
I’m currently an Account Manager, meaning that my daily tasks include nurturing the portfolio of existing customers and developing new customer accounts.
I also support my colleagues and help them in their daily business!
- What are the qualities required to be an account manager in your opinion?
In this role, you need to be
- tenacious,
- an active listener, and able to adapt to customers
- as well as being at ease in conversation!
- Have you been able to acquire any new skills since starting at Bechtle?
I’ve been able to build on my capacity to understand the needs of customers and act on them effectively.
I’ve also been able to develop my communication skills in terms of adapting to customers, vendors, or colleagues.
My experience at Bechtle has also allowed me to get a handle on the work process and tools!
- What is the next step in your Bechtle journey?
Why not as part of a team? Sure, you can do things faster on your own, but together we can go further.

Spending time with my family, travelling, running.
