From complex rights management to a simple, human solution with Bechtle and SVD.
tenfold
The merging of social security institutions BVA and VAEB into BVAEB and SVA and SVB into SVS not only meant the consolidation of systems, but also the blending of mindsets. This fusion was an opportunity to completely rethink possibilities and processes and thus required an IT project that was far from ordinary, and subsidiary, SVD Büromanagement GmbH, took on the role of back office service provider responsible for project implementation. It wasn’t just a case of needing software, but a whole different approach. In other words, IT that supports the people, rather than holds them back.
The challenge.
The initial situation was challenging, especially in rights management which was characterised by manual processes, unclear responsibilities and a whole host of legacy issues. Accounts remained active in the company longer than the individuals themselves. Roles had to be redefined, rights automated, and Identity & Access Management (IAM) completely reworked.
From the off, Bechtle was so much more than a just a service provider. In its role as strategic partner, Bechtle strove to build trust, even when project managers changed, with the aim of achieving transparency, stability, and security.
The decision was made to go with tenfold—an Austrian solution that is highly flexible and can be easily configured to the users’ needs. Working closely with SVD, numerous features were developed that are standard today and this opportunity to actively contribute and communicate directly with the manufacturer made all the difference.

“I’m not tech-minded, but I love working with this system,” says Barbara Bauer, Team Lead SVD. Her praise echoes the sentiments of many: The solution has proven itself in day-to-day business, not just technically, but from an organisational point of view, too.
The collaborative spirit was appreciated at all levels with knowledge actively shared. In-house expertise grew thanks to some initial external assistance and now, Microsoft Entra, additional role models and recertifications are naturally part of the development process.
What started as a rights-related project turned into a platform for automation, knowledge transfer, and cultural change, showing IT doesn’t have to slow things down. It can accelerate them. Security doesn’t have to be rigid. It can foster freedom.
Summary.
With Bechtle and tenfold, SVD didn’t just implement a system.
They set a standard. For digital responsibility that evolves. For solutions that remain comprehensible. And for collaboration based on trust.
