Microsoft Windows Server CAL
A Windows Server CAL is required for every user or device who/which accesses the server software directly or indirectly. The best option for businesses whose employees access the Windows Server from multiple devices (e.g. PCs, notebooks, PDAs, mobile phones) is buying one User CAL per employee. A Device CAL makes sense for multiple users who access instances of Windows Server from a shared device (e.g. in a call centre). You have the option licensing and using a combination of Device and User CALs.
