Maintaining a printer, or in some cases a fleet of printers can be a challenge. The monthly toner orders, replacing parts, cost of engineers and warranty issues are just a few of the challenges a customer has to deal with on a day to day basis with printers. EIPC approached us with the requirement to centralise the management of their existing print fleet. Due to a lack of suitable print infrastructure, Dale Seymour, the IS Systems Coordinator, was dealing with all unnecessary print issues. EIPC had previously purchased Samsung printers through Bechtle and were keen to umbrella their existing devices under one contract. The purpose of this Managed Print Service (MPS) installation was to simplify EIPC’s print solution by having a single point of contact for consumables, maintenance and services. This enabled the customer to spend more time on pressing matters by cutting down admin time.
At Bechtle, our experiences in services and consultative approach means we take the time to understand our customer’s existing print infrastructure, enabling us to develop a bespoke managed print service to meet both their immediate and future needs.
Initially we set up a meeting with our in-house MPS specialist, Samsung’s MPS specialist and EIPC which enabled us to gain a clear understanding of their needs and objectives, their aim primarily being to reduce the amount of maintenance and admin time spent on their print environment. This discussion also allowed us to understand the devices currently employed, the print volume output, and the nature of EIPC’s business.
Once we had established what was required we worked closely with Samsung, one of our MPS partners, to design and deliver a suitable solution to fit their requirements. As part of the proposal we worked out the estimated cost savings for EIPC which equated to around £2,216 per device. Across both devices, they had a potential cost saving of £4,432 per annum.
In this situation we were given plenty of time to present the proposal and it was a simple case of waiting for EIPC to make a decision.
EIPC gained a host of benefits by employing an MPS contract, the main one being, it’s all done for you! When the toners are running low, a notification is sent to the Samsung help desk who process this and get the correct toners sent out for next day delivery. If a part needs fixing, another notification is sent, processed, and an engineer will be sent to fix the problem.
By switching to a managed print service EIPC benefitted from significant cost savings and no longer need to spend extra time keeping printers up and running, they can now simply let the printers do their job and allow Samsung and their partners to deal with all the admin and maintenance for them... perfect!
