Previously the licence types were Standard and Premium. The difference was the managed service, however Standard offered a lot for a very reasonable price. As you can see the rooms would be licenced for Cloud PBX meaning outbound calls were only a calling plan away.

Looking to September 2022 and onward the Teams Rooms licencing landscape is Pro vs Basic. Microsoft have stated that any meeting room kitted out with ‘eligible hardware’ can have up to 25 Basic plans for free.
The Basic plan really is quite basic but with the end of user licencing being a compliant way to licence a room in July 23, this is the only way to get Teams in the room. If you require Cloud PBX you will be looking at RRP £30.20 to get the pro version. With Standard priced at just RRP £14, you can see the uplift is substantial.
If you have a requirement for more than 25 rooms with Basic, then you would need to licence those with a Pro licence. Your Pro licencing will not have access to in-person engineers ‘Microsoft Service engineers will no longer serve as intermediaries to incident response starting October 1, 2022’ (Microsoft Teams Rooms licenses - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn)

For now, you can continue with your legacy Teams licencing until renewal however upon renewal the new licencing will need to be adopted. We advise reviewing your Teams Room requirements and ensure, if using Standard, you use all features. If you’re only using Teams, then the Basic would be a good fit and therefore a saving! Your licencing will not automatically transition and therefore may require setting up again.
For Enterprise agreement customers, much the same as CSP, Legacy can also continue until renewal, and you can continue to reserve them.
