Joining Bechtle: an unusual start.
Joel's career at Bechtle began in an unexpected way: “My grandparents heard about Bechtle on a trip for senior citizens and told me about it.” This curious initial spark laid the foundation for his development within the company. What followed was the start of an exciting professional journey.
How Joel became an Azure expert.
He started in Managed Service Customer Engineering, where he gained his first experience and quickly took on responsibility. During this initial phase, he learned to understand customers' needs and find solutions in real time. His career quickly took off. Joel outgrew his initial role and specialized in Microsoft Azure. He was particularly motivated by the opportunity to join the newly established Azure team, where he has now been working for a year with a great deal of energy and expertise.
“In IT, you have to recognize and take advantage of the right opportunities - and Bechtle offers many of them,” he explains with a wink. The company gives employees the opportunity to continuously develop and take on new roles.
At just 25 years old, Joel already has considerable responsibility: he supervises apprentices and manages challenging projects. His recipe for success? A clear career plan and the support of his team leaders. “At Bechtle, you are supported and encouraged to break new ground - even if that means moving to a new area,” he says appreciatively. This support and encouragement from Bechtle are key aspects of his success.

Networking as a success factor.
Joel particularly appreciates the networking opportunities within Bechtle. The Public Cloud Competence Center set up by Bechtle Schweiz and the associated transnational communities offer him the opportunity to exchange ideas with other experts and develop new solutions together.
“The decentralized nature of the company is a huge advantage. You work with colleagues from different countries within our Group, share knowledge and receive valuable input from different perspectives.”
The variety of projects and changing customer requirements are one of Joel's biggest motivations. “Every day brings new challenges - and that's what spurs me on.”
Between studies and future plans.
This spring, Joel will complete his studies, which Bechtle actively supported. “It wasn't always easy to combine work and studies, but it was worth the effort.” His plans for the future are already clearly defined: “I'm looking forward to taking on even more responsibility, expanding my knowledge and taking on new challenges. My journey is far from over - and that's exactly what motivates me.”
The passion for new things.
What makes Joel successful professionally also helps him in his private life: analytical thinking, curiosity and the ability to act in a networked way. He appreciates the freedom to try things out and break new ground. “Variety is the most important thing for me - whether at work or in my free time.”
During our conversation, I am impressed by the enthusiasm and clarity with which Joel talks about his career. He has achieved a lot in a short space of time - and yet he remains modest. He talks with energy and conviction about the projects that challenge him and the people who inspire him. It becomes clear that Joel is not only enthusiastic about his job, but also about the development opportunities offered to him at Bechtle.
Finally, I ask him what particularly motivates him at Bechtle. He thinks for a moment before answering: “It's the opportunities that are offered to me and the people I work with. Bechtle gives me the freedom to try out new things, to develop myself further and to use my strengths - I really appreciate that.” As he says this, it becomes clear that Joel still has many plans. There are no limits for him - only new stages. And he is looking forward to each one.
