Neckarsulm/Bonn, 27 March 2025 – IT service provider Bechtle is constructing two new office buildings in Bonn, along with a combined facility housing a car park, logistics and installation areas. One building will be constructed in Bonn’s Bad Godesberg district, the other in nearby Sankt Augustin—both within easy reach of Bechtle’s existing locations. Both projects have received the necessary approvals, with construction scheduled to begin in the first half of 2025 as planned. Once completed, the buildings will provide some 650 employees with modern, collaborative workspaces. The plans for Bad Godesberg include an option to add further floors. In Sankt Augustin, the design features solar panels, geothermal systems and green facades to support carbon-neutral heating and cooling. The company is aiming to obtain sustainability certifications for both buildings upon their scheduled completion at the end of 2026. Founded in March 2005 with 40 employees, Bechtle Bonn is now one of the largest Bechtle IT System Houses, with around 750 employees across its locations in Bonn-Bad Godesberg, Sankt Augustin, Cologne, Koblenz, Mainz and Berlin.
The decision to maintain the dual-site approach is based both on the importance of remaining at the established Bonn location and the availability of suitable infrastructure to create a dedicated installation centre that meets stringent security and compliance requirements.
Attractive ecosystem in Sankt Augustin
The Sankt Augustin site will offer 4,850 m² of office and meeting space equipped with state-of-the-art technology to support interdisciplinary collaboration in dynamic project environments. It will be built in the Klosterhöfe complex in the city centre, placing it in an attractive urban setting close to the Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University, the Fraunhofer Institutes, the Lamarr Institute and the German Aerospace Centre. Alongside a six-storey office building, Bechtle will construct a five-storey facility—connected at ground level—providing space for logistics, secure IT installation lines and a car park with integrated EV charging infrastructure. Bechtle already operates a branch in Sankt Augustin specialising in bespoke software development.
Relocation of Bad Godesberg main office
Bechtle has had a presence in the Bonn district of Bad Godesberg since the regional IT systems integrator was founded 20 years ago. The company has seen strong growth in recent years, particularly in its work for federal authorities, but also regional businesses. A new building—comprising two floors of office space and two levels of parking—will be constructed close to the current location. Spanning around 4,700 m², the new facility will offer a modern working environment designed to support flexible, collaborative working models. Open-plan offices will promote teamwork and creativity, while state-of-the-art meeting rooms will enable dynamic collaboration.
Investing in the region’s future
“With these two construction projects, we are creating outstanding working conditions for all our teams in the region. The location is fantastic. It’s close to our local customers and to emerging talent at universities, and it perfectly aligns with our culture of open exchange and creative collaboration. These new buildings are a strong commitment to the regional economy, a testament to Bechtle’s long-term vision, and an expression of appreciation for our employees, who dedicate themselves every day to ensuring our customers’ success,” says Christian Behma, Managing Director, Bechtle IT System House Bonn.
Striving for sustainability
As at several of its other sites, Bechtle will generate and use renewable energy at the Sankt Augustin office, where solar panels will supply green electricity with an output of 200 kWp. Geothermal energy will also be used to meet the building’s heating and cooling needs. Both locations will be equipped with infrastructure enabling simultaneous charging for up to 100 electric vehicles, as part of the Bechtle Group’s Charge@Work programme. The ultimate goal is for both buildings to be certified to the Gold standard by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).
