Challenge.

The Foundation Waldheim’s decentralised locations and outdated hardware regularly led to operational disruptions and inefficient support. The previous IT solutions from other IT providers could not meet the foundation’s requirements Another problem was the poor mobile phone reception in some of the residential homes, which posed an additional stability problem, particularly with regard to emergency calls. To improve the situation and reduce operating costs, the foundation decided to issue an IT outsourcing tender.

Working with Bechtle has enabled us to modernise our IT infrastructure, reduce operating costs and significantly reduce the number of support tickets. We have been impressed by the rapid resolution of problems and the high level of technical expertise. Now we can fully concentrate on our core tasks.

Christian Petrollini, IT Manager, Waldheim Foundation

Solution.

Bechtle took over the IT infrastructure of the Foundation Waldheim and implemented a modern IaaS solution in its data centre. After a thorough analysis of the existing IT landscape, Bechtle developed a customised concept for migrating and optimising the systems. Old firewalls and hardware components were replaced with more powerful devices, and the entire IT infrastructure was migrated to the Bechtle data centre to increase efficiency and security.

In the first phase of operation, Bechtle provided an on-site employee once a week to process support tickets quickly and efficiently. Close cooperation and continuous dialogue with the foundation’s IT manager ensured that all requirements and requests were taken into account. The on-site support enabled Bechtle to respond immediately to any problems that arose and solve them quickly.

The implementation of new access points and UPS systems took place during operation, thus minimising downtime. After the smooth data migration and integration of the systems, the renewal and stabilisation of the network infrastructure led to significant improvements in IT performance. A comprehensive analysis was carried out after the takeover, which showed that the firewalls and the logical network urgently needed to be redesigned. These measures were implemented quickly and easily, achieving sustainable stability and a significant increase in performance. During this analysis, it was also determined that the UPSs urgently needed to be replaced. Thanks to the dedicated cooperation of a local electrician, Bechtle was able to successfully overcome this challenge and ensure the necessary reliability. Bechtle also supported the Foundation Waldheim in the strategic planning of future IT projects, including advice on the implementation of Microsoft Teams and the installation of new WLAN access points.

Business benefits.

The stable and reliable IT systems have significantly improved work processes. The foundation is now in a position to tackle future digitisation projects and flexibly adapt its IT needs to requirements. The reduction in support tickets and efficient problem solving by Bechtle have reduced operating costs. Bechtle continues to support the foundation with individual support and strategic advice to continuously optimise the IT landscape.

The Waldheim Foundation now benefits from a modern and reliable IT infrastructure that is managed by Bechtle. The improved systems significantly facilitate data processing and evaluation, which is particularly important for the daily work of the employees. Bechtle’s continuous support enables the foundation to focus on upcoming digitisation projects and to use its IT resources efficiently.
