The challenge.

In 2018, Vaudoise’s employees started using Microsoft Surface Pro tablets, deployed across all Vaudoise branches by Bechtle Switzerland. When these devices reached their end of life, however, the IT fleet needed upgrading, entailing a new roll-out project. “Vaudoise is in the middle of a digital transformation. This modernisation will enable us to provide our employees with reliable, cutting-edge equipment,” says Renaud Sériès, Group Head Collaboration & Workplace. The choice of a more modern, lighter, sleeker device reflects the modernity and dynamism of our customer. The goal was to boost employee satisfaction with a high-performing device within an homogeneous IT fleet. Our customer asked us to deploy 2,000 new screens, 1,850 tablets and their peripherals equipped with Windows 10, as well as to decommission its old hardware. The Bechtle teams were also asked to support Vaudoise’s employees in this transition. “Our workplace transformation didn’t end at just deploying the tablets, it also involved setting up 1,850 screens, a selection of 1,850 headsets, together with the accompanying docking stations, all pre-configured with Vaudoise’s image,” continues Renaud Sériès.

The solution.

Our customer was able to leverage the power of our Group’s national and local presence by collaborating with the various entities to successfully realise this project. “Bechtle’s national presence, its logistics hub in Rotkreuz (ZG) and offices in the Lausanne region are a real plus for this kind of project facilitating deployment across our various branches,” says the Vaudoise project manager. Bechtle’s project team organised, planned, managed, and ensured the quality of the project from deployment and decommissioning to user support and our experts adorned the devices with Vaudoise’s preferred logo before handing them over to their employees. They received a set consisting of a bag, a tablet with universal USB-C port, a mouse and a travel adapter.
In order to respect hygiene regulations, weekly antigen tests were carried out for all team members in charge of handing over the set to employees. “It was a challenge both logistically and in terms of health and safety and the Bechtle teams rose to it perfectly,” Renaud Sériès emphasises. “Bechtle’s skill in providing bilingual teams made up of dedicated experts, all with a real sense of belonging to the company and upholding its image, expertise and skills, is a real asset. The Bechtle teams’ monitoring of customer satisfaction through surveys, feedback from local support, and contact anyone who was dissatisfied were all much appreciated and positive. They made it possible to carry out this project in a way that suited everyone in the allotted time frame. It should be noted that the estimated costs were also adhered to so that no budget recalculations were necessary,” Renaud Sériès is pleased to report.

Our long-term vision, our human values and our high standards are all shared aspects that strengthen the relationship of trust with Bechtle. The teams’ skill in finding practical solutions is extremely important. Bechtle is a major player in Switzerland, and its national presence as well as local proximity together with its experience and reputation meant we were able to carry out this large-scale project with complete peace of mind.

Benefits.

“The key to the success of a project like this is detailed preparation. The proposed macro and micro planning were defined by an experienced Bechtle project leader, whose role was also to anticipate any pitfalls related to the unitary deployment of almost 2,000 workstations. We are very satisfied with the custom work carried out and the way they tackled the challenge,” says Renaud Sériès adding “We now have a universal, efficient and modern workplace that makes Vaudoise the best employer in the Swiss banking and insurance sector. The equipment we use is just one aspect driving satisfaction. The other is employee mobility. Now anyone can work from anywhere in Switzerland or from home. From our trainees to the CEO, everyone has the same equipment, which is essential for a mutual company like ours. Moreover, the project is also part of our sustainable approach—our old equipment was completely returned, reconditioned and put back on the market,” concludes Renaud Sériès.
