Challenge.

A clear course of action, even in an emergency. Achenbach Buschhütten wanted to be prepared for all critical IT scenarios – from power outages to ransomware attacks. The goal was not only to survive emergencies, but also to be able to respond to them in a structured and targeted manner. To this end, a central manual was to be created that defined all roles, processes and communication channels. A reference work that could be used immediately if systems failed, servers were attacked or remote locations lost access. Achenbach wanted a well-thought-out system – individually tailored to the company, with clear responsibilities and practical plans.

We have overcome many challenges since our company was founded in 1452. Now, with our IT emergency manual, we are also prepared for challenges on the digital level. Writing such an IT emergency manual is no small feat and requires a great deal of experience – this is precisely where we were able to successfully collaborate with Bechtle.

Solution.

In order to identify all important risks and compile appropriate measures, Bechtle and Achenbach Buschhütten are preparing intensively for defined failure scenarios and threats. All necessary workshops took place either on site at the headquarters in Kreuztal or remotely via Microsoft Teams. More than 250 risks were identified, evaluated and translated into concrete measures. Recovery plans were created for central systems such as virtualisation, telephony and the internet, responsibilities were defined and escalation paths were established. Emergency communication was also carefully considered: who informs whom and how? Bechtle documented all results in detail – in Microsoft Word and Docusnap. The result? A tailor-made IT emergency manual. At the same time, Bechtle worked with Achenbach to optimise the backup strategy. Within a few weeks, a robust manual was created that ensures the mechanical engineering company is well prepared for emergencies. And an IT security concept that inspires confidence: thanks to clear instructions for various emergency scenarios, 500 employees can now quickly resume work in the event of an emergency.
