Challenge.

As part of its 2020 site expansion, FUNK also wanted to ensure its IT network would be stable, secure, low-maintenance, and future-proof. A key requirement was a professional security setup, including modern firewalls and comprehensive monitoring. At the same time, the company wanted its network to be managed centrally. With a deliberately lean IT team, FUNK sought to outsource routine tasks, incident management and hardware lifecycle management. The company needed a partner not only to deliver the right technology but also to take over ongoing operations—reliably, predictably, and in a way that fits the needs of a mid-sized organisation.

Solution.

As Bechtle was already providing on-demand support for FUNK’s previous network, it was the natural choice to design and implement the new IT environment. As part of an enterprise-grade security concept, two redundant Barracuda firewalls were installed in the server room to provide robust protection. The modern LAN infrastructure is built on twelve advanced HPE Aruba switches distributed across eleven locations in the production and office areas, all connected via a core switch in the local data centre. Bechtle migrated the entire infrastructure into a tailored managed services model appropriate to the network’s size and complexity and now delivers proactive monitoring to detect issues early and ensures defective components are replaced with next-business-day hardware swaps. From 8:00 to 17:00, a dedicated service team is available to support FUNK directly. For FUNK, this means clearly defined service hours, predictable costs, stable operations, and IT that simply works, backed by a partner who understands the needs of the mid-market.
