Challenge.

Stable systems – that was IWTI GmbH's greatest wish. However, this required a fundamental overhaul of the entire IT system. Away from the data centre model and towards a new environment! One that functions stably and can be controlled flexibly! This required concentrated expertise. After all, the ERP system and all specialist applications should continue to function without failures or performance drops in the future. At the same time, access had to be easy for all employees – locally or remotely. This in turn required a security concept with a clear identity and authorisation concept as well as central administration options. And all this had to be implemented within a very tight time frame without any interruption to operations.


The time pressure was enormous – and to be honest, I was sceptical at first whether it would all work. We had a very tight time frame for the transition. Ultimately, however, the migration was completed a week before the deadline – and it went smoothly. Today, the environment is stable and reliable. And if I do have a question, we always receive a quick and prompt response from the relevant experts at Bechtle. It just works.

Solution.

Bechtle implemented precisely these requirements, from planning to implementation. In workshops, the target vision for the new IT environment – cloud-only – was developed together with IWTI GmbH. Bechtle took over the existing Microsoft 365 tenant and prepared for the complete withdrawal from the previous data centre operation. To this end, Bechtle migrated the existing systems to Microsoft Azure and distributed the previous servers across several Azure workloads, which were tailored to the existing ERP, the industry-specific construction software ORCA AVA and other specialist applications. This created an environment in which all applications run stably and loads are distributed evenly.

At the same time, Bechtle set up Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) to provide flexible access to all software tools, regardless of where employees were working. For identity and security, Bechtle also implemented conditional access and multi-factor authentication, as well as clear authorisation structures. With Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot, IWTI now has centralised client management. This resulted in a tightly scheduled but precise transition that was perfectly coordinated, documented and structured. Today, Bechtle operates the environment as a managed service – from Azure and AVD to Workplace, modern client management and network security.
